A few weeks ago I spotted the PRETTIEST glitter at Walmart. I wasn’t sure at the time what I was going to do with this glitter but I knew I had to buy it. Of course it didn’t take long for my 9 year old daughter to spot the glitter on my craft table. She knew exactly what she was going to use this sparkly turquoise glitter for. To make Mermaid Slime.

Clear Glue– You can purchase clear glue in stores or save yourself the hassle and purchase a large gallon like the one I buy here.

Fine Gold Glitter

Liquid Starch

To make this super easy mermaid slime you will first need to make your clear slime. I have an easy recipe for crystal clear slime using borax and water. However for this mermaid slime recipe I am going to show you how to make clear slime using liquid starch. First pour about 1 cup of clear glue into a medium size bowl.

Next slowly add in your liquid starch a little at a time. You really need to be careful with this step and make sure that you don’t add too much too fast. If you do, it will ruin your slime. Add the liquid starch until you slime starts to form and you can’t really stir it anymore.

Now take your slime out of the bowl and start to knead it. You can add more liquid starch if it’s too sticky. The more you play with the slime the better consistency it will become. Once the slime is no longer sticky you are going to set it aside.

Now take your turquoise glitter and gold glitter over the top of the clear slime and knead it into the slime. If you want it darker add more. If you want it lighter add less. I only used a small amount of the gold glitter because we wanted a darker blue color.

My daughter is absolutely obsessed with this slime! Well, I’m not gonna lie…I kinda am too! Mermaid Slime is a beautiful color that sparkles and shines and reminds me of a mermaid fin. That’s pretty much how we decided we were gonna call it mermaid slime.
