I have always wanted to record a voice over for an animated film, but it’s one of those things that you figure will only dream about. Well you no what they say about Disney and how wishes come true! Last month I actually got the chance to not only step inside the Recording Booth at Disney Toon Studios but I got to to a voice-over for a small clip from Disney Planes Fire and Rescue. It was so surreal to be able to do something like this and I almost had to pinch myself to make sure it was real.
When I stepped into that recording booth, I’m not gonna lie, my heart was pounding. I was so nervous! Here I was in the same booth that actors such as Dane Cook, Julie Bowen, Ed Harris, and Teri Hatcher had stood in and I suddenly felt a little out of place. Fortunately Disney is all about having fun so after my first “line” the embarrassment was out there and I decided to just go with it. You only get one chance at things that this so you might as well make it count. I was coached by some of Hollywood’s best and they made everyone feel at ease and as comfortable as possible.
So below is the actual video of me in the recording booth. It’s funny because recording your voice isn’t as easy as you may think it would be. It’s hard to make a giggle on cue..Check it out!
So what did you think? Now that you saw how the process of recording a voice happens, see how they put it all together to make Disney magic, even for a rookie like me.
I had a fantastic time at Disney Toon Studios but being able to hear my voice in a real Disney animated film was priceless. Having two young kids who are big fans of the first Planes movie it was a proud mommy moment to be able to let them hear my voice as a character in the movie. Hollywood may not be knocking down my door anytime soon but this was an experience that was priceless.
Disney Planes Fire and Rescue will fly into theaters July 18th.
