If there is one thing that I love more than anything during the holidays it’s the sweets! I always make at least 1 or 2 pies each holiday and more often that not one of these include Chocolate Meringue Pie. Chocolate Pie is one of the easiest pies to make and one that tastes, oh so good.
Here’s what you need for the Pie:
1 3/4 Cups Sugar
2 Cups Milk
3 Tablespoons Butter
3 Egg Yolks (Save the Egg Whites)
4 Tablespoons Cocoa
6 Tablespoons Flour
2 1/2 Teaspoons Vanilla
1 9 inch Deep Dish Pie Crust-Baked
Mix flour, milk, sugar, cocoa, and egg yolks. Cook over low heat until thick, stirring frequently. Once the filling is thick remove from the heat and add vanilla and butter. Mix Well. Pour Into pie crust and top with meringue. You can try my easy meringue recipe that I posted last year. Bake at 400 degrees for about 12-15 minutes or until meringue is golden brown.
If your short on time or want to make an alternative topping to meringue you can always top the pie with whipped cream. I hope you enjoy.
I would love to hear what your favorite pie recipe is?
