These beautiful Valentine dipped pretzels make the perfect sweet and salty treat for Valentine’s Day. And they are super easy to make, even kids as young as three can help in the kitchen with this fun Valentines Day recipe. You can whip up a big batch of these Valentine Dipped pretzels in no time. And you will definitely want to make a lot of these yummy pretzels because they don’t last long.
Make Valentine Dipped Pretzels
Step 1: Gather your favorite pretzel snacks for this sweet treat. We used pretzel rods and twists for our Valentine dipped pretzels, but you can use any variety you like.
Step 2: Use Wilton candy melts or Almond bark to coat your pretzels. I normally use almond bark but candy melts are great because they come in a variety of colors. To melt the candy you’ll want to place either the melts or almond bark in a glass microwave safe bowl and heat in the microwave at 30 second intervals. Make sure you stir good each time. If your candy is too thick you can add in about 1 tablespoon of shortening to every 1 cup of candy melts when you heat it up.
Step 3: Place a large sheet of wax paper onto a hard surface. You can use your countertop or a cookie sheet. Dip each pretzel into the melted candy about 1/2 to 1/3 of the way down. Tap off any excess candy and place onto the wax paper. If your using rods you’ll want to spoon the candy mixture over the pretzel to make sure you cover it evenly.
Step 4: Decorate with your favorite candy sprinkles. You could even get creative with this step and use cookies or other crushed up candies.
Step 5: Let the pretzels harden for about 30 minutes to an hour. Or you can place them in the fridge to harden faster.
We Love Making Kid Friendly Valentine Recipes
I try and make recipes each holiday that are easy and kid friendly. These Valentine dipped pretzels definitely fall into that that category. I mentioned above that kids as young as 3 can help make these dipped pretzel rods. You can help with the dipping and the kids can add whatever sprinkles or candy toppings they want. My kids love adding sprinkles, so we make sure to stock up on a variety of colors and flavors.
