I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for the U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council. I received a stipend to facilitate my purchase for my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
We are almost three weeks into the New Year. How are you doing on your resolutions? I’ve been doing pretty good considering I started my resolutions long before the New Year. Last year I made a decision that I was going to live a healthier lifestyle. No more fad diets, no more starving myself trying to cut calories. Nope, those days are long gone. Don’t get me wrong I want to be a healthy weight and look good in my swim suit but there are healthy ways to achieve these goals.
I Love to Snack
My biggest problem area when it came to eating and gaining weight was the fact that I LOVE to snack. I am one of those people who snack all day long. To help combat my need for snack foods I have a few secret weapons I’ve been using. The first is water. I can’t tell you enough how important water is in living a healthier lifestyle. Your body needs water, it craves it. I recommend drinking at least 7 glasses of water each day. I know this can be a challenge for people but trust me once you get into the habit of drinking water, you’ll notice a huge difference. If you think plain water is boring try adding simple fruits to water like blueberries.
Blueberries are a great snack
My second secret weapon is always having blueberries on hand. Blueberries are delicious, healthy, simple, and an easy way to snack. Not only are blueberries delicious, they come straight off the bush that way! Although versatile, enjoying their sweet flavor can be as effortless and quick as popping a handful in your mouth. I used to think that blueberries were seasonal but thanks to our friends in South America we can enjoy blueberries all year long.
But don’t worry if you can’t find fresh blueberries because frozen and and dried blueberries are just as good and a a great alternative when you can’t buy fresh. I actually use frozen blueberries all the time. They are a great snack when they are frozen and I even add them to my oatmeal in the morning to help it cool down faster.
Chose to Live a Healthier Lifestyle
Whether you’re cooking, snacking or pursuing healthy habits, adding blueberries is an easy way to add a healthy twist to your meal. Since they are only 80 calories and contain 3.6 grams of fiber per serving (one cup) they are the perfect way to snack and not feel one bit guilty about it.
The U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council website hosts a variety of tips on how to make eating blueberries apart of your lifestyle as well as a slew of recipes in which you can incorporate blueberries, which can be found here. This year make living a healthier lifestyle an easy choice.
