I can remember taking a trip to Disneyland with my family back in the 80’s when I was just a young girl. Disneyland has changed so much since then and there have been many expansions to both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park over the past few years. One of these expansions is the completely redesigned entrance that transport guests back in time to Los Angeles in the 1920’s and 1930’s.  This would have been the same time that Walt Disney arrived with big dreams and plans to start his animation studio and when you walk down Buena Vista Street you get to see things as it may have appeared to Walt Disney himself when he first stepped off the train from Kansas City.

The Red Car Trolleys are one if the first things you may notice as you walk along Buena Vista Street. Guests can board one of the two Red Car Trolleys which take you on a tour of Buena Vista Street, Hollywood Land and finally on to the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. Along the way the trolleys make four stops, but during your ride your conductor will engage all of the riders with fun details about Disney California Adventure. The Red Car Trolleys are inspired by the Los Angeles historic Pacific Electric Red cars from the 20’s and 30’s and their interior s showcase the soft green and cream colors of this time period.

As you ride along inside this nostalgic trolley you will pass the new icon of Disney California Adventure, the Carthay Circle Theatre! This theater is inspired by the site where Walt Disney premiered Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937. In addition to riding the trolleys, you can also catch a fun show featuring the Red Car News Boys who will periodically roll into town on one of the Red Car Trolleys singing “California Here I Come” and other fun songs inspired by Disney’s Broadway Show, “Newsies”. Be sure to keep your eye out because you might just catch Mickey Mouse joining in on the show.

I didn’t get a chance this time around to ride the Red Car Trolleys but you can bet as soon as I get to go back this will be one of the first things on my to do list. The trolleys looked so much fun and you could tell just by the passengers faces riding in the trolleys that they were having a great time.
