I can’t remember a whole lot from elementary school but the one thing that has stuck with me through the years was the amazing Cowboy Bread that they used to make for lunch. This was one of those desserts that has the right combination of every ingredient making it perfect anytime of the day. After a long search through cookbooks I finally came across a recipe that tastes just like the bread that I used to look forward to in school. If you have never tried Cowboy Bread I highly recommend it! It’s super easy to make and chances are you probably have all of the ingredients at home already.

Ingredients For Cowboy Bread Recipe:
3 Cups of Flour
2 Cups of Sugar
1/2 tsp of salt
1 Cup of Butter
3 Teaspoons of baking powder
1/2 teapsoon of baking soda
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
1 Cup of Buttermilk
3 medium size eggs

Directions:
1.Preheat your oven to 375 degrees
2. Blend Flour, sugar, salt, baking powder and soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and butter. It will be a crumbly consistency. Set aside 1 cup of this mixture for the topping.
3. Add the buttermilk and eggs and blend together well by hand until smooth.
4. Pour your mixture into a greased jelly roll pan. Sprinkle the top with your remaining crumb mixture.
5. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes or until golden brown (If you have a larger pan it probably won’t take this long to cook so watch it)

Your bread will come out looking and smelling so good! You can serve this bread both warm and cooled the next morning. It’s perfect with coffee or hot cocoa.
I hope you enjoy this recipe. I always love to hear your comments or if you have any questions please let me know.
