It’s been about a month since the school year let out for my kids. I have to admit it’s been really nice being able to sleep in and not have to rush in the morning to get everyone out the door on time. However, there are definitely downsides to having two kids home all day long. My house goes from being clean, or somewhat clean, to being a complete and utter disaster. It seems like the older my kids get the messier they become. But this year I decided it’s time they start cleaning up messes instead of making them.

How To Survive The Summer With Kids: Cleaning Tips

Believe it or not, even young kids can help out with chores around the house. There are lot’s of products out there that make cleaning easy and fun and that will help you survive those summer months when kids are home. A couple of weeks ago I headed to Costco to pick up some essential P&G cleaning supplies. I love shopping at Costco because you can pick up the P&G items you need in bulk. One item in particular that I find extremely helpful with getting my kids to clean the house is the Swiffer Dusters. I always keep a box full of these magical cleaning wands, or at least that’s what my kids think they are. Swiffer Dusters are an easy way to keep your home clean because they trap and lock in dust on just about any surface. They are easy to use and fit into even the tiniest of crevices.

So now that you have the inside of the house taken care of it’s time to tackle the other issue that comes along with summer break. Those stinky smells! No matter how clean your house can be if your kid comes in sweating from playing outside their clothes are going to smell. But I have a little secret that helps me get rid of this problem. Downy Unstopables. You just throw a lid full of Unstopables Beads in the drum of any washer before you put in your clothes. Then you let the beads do the work. Your clothes will come out smelling amazing and that scent lasts up to 12 weeks. Trust me when I say it really makes a huge difference and they couldn’t get any easier to use.

The other problem area during the summer is the car. Of course when you have kids, I think the stinky smell of the car just goes along with the territory. That’s why I stock up on Febreze Car Vent Clips. These little babies eliminate even the stinkiest of odors caused by kids. And the freshness lasts up to 4 months. I just clip a Febreze Car Vent clip onto my air vent and let it do the rest. Costco also sells these in bulk so I can put one in all of the cars.

Having your kids home for the whole summer should be fun. You shouldn’t have to worry about the messes but instead on the memories you will be making with your kids. Hopefully these tips mentioned above will help you not only survive the summer with your kids but enjoy the summer. You can find all of these P&G products at your local Costco store.
