I’ve been keeping a little secret over the past few weeks. I’m Pregnant! This came as a completely shock to the husband and I because we weren’t actually planning baby #3. In fact, we had given away all of the baby gear many years ago thinking our family was complete. But God had other plans for us. I’ll be honest the first week that I found out, I was in complete disbelief and full of worry. But now that I have had to time to really sit and think about this little tiny miracle, I am beyond excited. As of today I am 13 weeks and in the last week of my first trimester.
Telling Our Kids About The Pregnancy
My kids are both older. Jeremy is 11 and Aubrey will be 8 in March. My daughter has asked me for years for a younger sibling but I think over the past year or so she just figured that was never going to happen. Well little did she know she would soon get her chance to be a big sister. We wanted to plan something big when we announced my pregnancy but its hard for me to keep something like this a secret and I wanted to tell them ASAP. So we decided to have some “EBC” (Early Birthday Cake) and we gave them a birthday card with the surprise pregnancy announcement . Here’s there priceless reaction which we caught on video.
First Trimester Pregnancy Symptoms
This pregnancy has been really tough. I don’t know if it’s because I am older or if it’s the fact that I have two older kids but it’s definitely shook up my world. I have had many of the classic symptoms of pregnancy such as fatigue and morning sickness but it seems like they have been magnified. My morning sickness got so bad at around 6 weeks that I spent a good 2 weeks in bed because it was just hard to do anything else but lay there. Thankfully there are remedies for nausea out there to help make your life much easier.
Remedies For Nausea
When I told my doctor about my nausea he prescribed me Zofran. I took it for about a week and then started reading mixed things about it and decided to try some more natural nausea remedies. The first thing I tried was Three Lollies Organic Preggie Pop Suckers. These are natural suckers that have herbs that really do help ease nausea. There are different flavors and you can take them with you anywhere just in case nausea strikes. Three Lollies also offers the Three Lollies Variety Pack Preggie Naturals Chews for Morning Sickness Relief. These two things really work! I also tried the Psi Bands Nausea Relief Bands. These seem to help take the edge off especially when paired with the Preggie Pops.
The Last Week of My First Trimester
Today marks the beginning of the last week of my first trimester. The nausea is still there but it’s starting to become less and less. I still feel very tired but I am allowing myself more time to nap and not feel guilty about it, and I think that really helps. I’ll be bringing you guys updates on my pregnancy over the next 6 months or so and can’t wait to share this journey with you. I’d love to hear if you are pregnant and if so what kind of experience you are having.
