This Pot of gold slime is the perfect kids slime recipe. It’s super easy to make and best of all kids love to make it and play with it. I promise you, slime is one of those activities that will provide hours of fun for your kids. Mine will sit at the table and play all sorts of games with their slime. It’s one of the reasons why we make slime all the time. Now you may notice that this slime recipe looks a little different from some of my others, the reason is we made this Pot of Gold slime with clear glue instead of our typical big gallon of white glue. Why? Well, the clear glue gives this slime a really pretty translucent color that goes great with the green and gold colors.

Make Slime Without Borax

Liquid StarchLiquid StarchSLIME TIP: This slime or any other slime can easily be made without Borax. All you need is liquid starch and glue. This makes things so much easier Just mix about 1/2 cup of water into 4 ounces of glue and stir. Add the color of food dye, glitter and any accessories you want at this time. Next add in the liquid starch, little by little,  into the glue until you get the consistency of slime that you want. All in all it takes about 1/2 cup.

Liquid starch can be a pain to find in stores that’s why I pick up pick up an inexpensive container of liquid starch like this.  This is the same kind I use. I also like to purchase my glue in a big container like the one below. It’s so much cheaper that way. Plus slime has become a big thing these days and small bottles of glue are selling out in stores.

Now Let’s make some Pot of Gold Slime!

To make your Pot of Gold slime you’re going to need a few ingredients.

  • 1 5 oz Bottle of Clear or White Elmer’s Glue
  • Gold Glitter (Optional)
  • Green Glitter (Optional)
  • Yellow Food Coloring
  • Green Food Coloring
  • 1/2 Cup Water (separated into 1/4 cup for each batch)
  • 1/2 Cup Liquid Starch (separated into 1/4 cup for each batch)
  • Gold Coins (optional)

Make sure you have two separate bowls for this slime recipe. I actually use plastic cups and spoons and just throw them out afterwards. It’s so much easier that way. Your going to put half of the container of glue into 1 of the bowls and then the rest of the glue in the second bowl. Add 1/4 cup water to each bowl and stir well. In one of the bowls add a few drops of yellow food coloring and gold glitter and stir. Do the same with the second bowl except you’ll use green this time. st patrick day shamrock crafts

Next add in 1/4 cup of liquid starch to each cup but slowly add it in a little at a time. Mix as you pour it in. You may not need the whole 1/4 cup. Once you get a slime consistency take it out of the cup and start kneading the slime. The more you play with it, the more set up it will get. If you find that the slime is too sticky add in a little more liquid starch.

I think this is when my kids loved it the most. Since it is St. Patricks day themed slime you can add gold coins, shamrocks or just leave it as is. This is a really fun St. Patricks day craft for kids.

How to Store Slime

You can store the slime in a plastic bag or plastic container with a lid. It will last for a few days or even weeks but I recommend throwing it out once it starts getting funky. I hope you and your family enjoy this recipe on how to make Pot of Gold Slime.
