 popcorn recipe

This week my kids and I decided to make some popcorn. As we were eating our snack I thought of how fun it would be to make a Popcorn snack for the 4th of July. After a little bit of trial and error we came up with a Patriotic Popcorn Snack Mix. It’s a really easy recipe to make and it’s a fun way to have your kids help you out in the kitchen.

What you need:
1 Cup of Sugar
3 Tablespoons of Butter
3 Tablespoons of Water
3 Drops of Blue Food Coloring
4 Cups of Popped Popcorn
1 Cup of Red M&M’s
1 Cup of Marshmallows

When first trying this recipe out I tried to just add blue food coloring to the popcorn and this didn’t work so I made a sugar coating and added the blue food coloring so that the color would stick to the popcorn. Plus it just tastes really good.

First thing you need to do is add 1 cup of sugar, 3 tablespoons of water, butter and blue food coloring into a small saucepan. Heat and stir until the sugar and butter are completely melted and dissolved.

In a large Bowl filled with popped popcorn pour the sugar mixture on top and coat the popcorn well. Spread the Popcorn out onto wax paper for about 30-45 minutes until dry.

Once dry mix together the popcorn, marshmallows and M&M’s together and your done.

This is such a easy recipe and it tastes really good. My kids loved making it and best of all they loved eating it. Feel free to mix the ingredients up and use other types of candy such as red hots, red jelly beans, etc.
