For many kids growing up in the 90’s, myself included, there were a few toys that just stuck out among all of the rest. Two of these popular products are back and better than ever. Nickelodeon Floam and Nickelodeon Gak have been completely reformulated and ready to provide hours of entertainment and creative play.
We received a few containers of Gak and Floam in a variety of colors. I asked both of my kids which product they wanted to play with first and they both unanimously decided on the Gak. The Gak comes in a fun container which is sealed with a lid so you can put your Gak back after your done playing with it and it stays soft. The first time we opened up the containers I had a little bit of trouble getting all of the Gak out, but once it was out and activated it was fine.
Gak can be squeezed, squashed, stretched, twisted, rolled or even blown into bubbles! We grabbed a straw from the kitchen and had competitions on who could blow the biggest Gak bubble.
The New Nickelodeon Gak is made with a different formula than it was 20+ years ago so it’s easier to use and less messy. I will warn you though it can get pretty sticky so I would definitely put down a play mat so that it doesn’t get all over your table. Gak is really easy to clean up with water though, so if it does get everywhere it doesn’t take much to wipe it up. Gak is available in Rebel Red, Goo Green, You Blue It, Yakkity Yellow, Purple Panic, and Tickled Pink. Each container will run you around $6.99 Each.
After about an hour of playing with the Gak we moved on to the Floam. This one was by far my favorite because it’s almost mess-free. The Floam is a reusable molding compound that can be used to make different creations. This textured floam can be squeezed, squashed, flattened and molded to be transformed into a masterpiece.
As a mom of a preschooler I can really appreciate products that can allow Aubrey to play and create things without me having to spend forever cleaning up afterwards. We made several things with our Floam including a Snake, Flower, and Ice Cream Cone. I even got out the cookie cutters and we made shapes out of the Floam. My kids had a blast and when they were done, we put the Floam back in it’s container for the next time. If your child makes something that they want to keep, you can leave the Floam creation out over night and it hardens up.
We had a great time playing with these new and Improved Nickelodeon Products and it was great to play with a product that I loved as a child with my children. Floam is available in Rockin Red, Blazin’ Blue, Electic Yellow, Glimmer Green, Posh Pink, and Purple Power. Each container will cost you around $6.99 Each.
Nickelodeon Gak and Floam are non-toxic, non-staining, phthalate, latex and BPA free. They are available for purchase at Target, Toys R Us, Bed Bath and Beyond, A.C Moore and Walgreens.
Disclosure: I was sent both Gak and Floam for in exchange for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own and no other compensation was received.
