Being a mom of two kids, I often find it challenging to give each of my children one on one time. This is why a couple of years ago I decided to implement “mom date night”. Even if it’s just once or twice a month that I find something special to do with each child alone, they really cherish this alone time and look forward to it each month. Since we first started these “date nights” I have had to come up with some pretty creative ways to make each of our dates memorable. This past month it was Aubrey’s turn for some one-on-one time with mom so together we decided to have a Mother & Daughter Tea Time Playdate.
This was such a fun date idea and so simple to put together. Aubrey got to decide the location of the tea party, what we would wear (the “fancy” hats) and she even broke out her fancy tea cups for the occasion.
Before our date I headed to Target where I loaded up on all our goodies for the party. The first stop was the tea isle where I was faced with the very hard task of deciding which tea we would get. Bigelow Tea has so many varieties to choose from but I ultimately decided on Vanilla Chia Tea which I thought would go perfect with some cookies.
Since the weather has been absolutely gorgeous Aubrey wanted to have our tea party under the tree in our front yard. It was actually a really great place because while we had our tea and cookies we were able to watch the birds and butterflies and it just made the whole experience extra special.
The tea party was great because it gave us time to enjoy one another without the distractions of TV, video games, etc. We talked, laughed, sang songs and just had such a fun and memorable time. These are the moments in life that I will cherish forever.
Aubrey and I had such a great time with our Mother & Daughter Tea Party Date that we will definitely be doing much more of these in the future.
