I’ve been talking a lot about Big Hero 6 over the past week and it’s for good reason. The movie is amazing and I am almost certain you are going to love it just as much as I did. One of the reasons the movie is so great is because of the awesome voice cast behind the characters. Jamie Chung & Genesis Rodriguez are the main female characters in Big Hero 6 and play Go-Go and Honey Lemon . There characters in the movie have very different personalities and strengths but when they come together they are pretty much unstoppable. As a mom of a young daughter, it’s so exciting for me to see these lead female roles be so strong and independent.

Genesis Rodriguez: Honey Lemon

  • When Genesis Rodriguez did the audition she looked exactly like the character Honey Lemon and hadn’t seen the Character yet. “I took a very bold Fashion Choice. I did Socks in Heels and I did like an Undershirt and then a Dress over it.” She said that she normally doesn’t dress like that but for some reason decided to on this particular day and then she saw Honey Lemon and the way she dressed and thought “this is freaky”.
  • Genesis thinks Go-Go has the best line in the whole movie which is “Woman Up.”
  • Her favorite scene in the movie is the Car Chase.
  • Favorite Character in the movie, besides Baymax is Fred.
  • There are three different scenes in the movie that made Genesis tear up including the very beginning when she first saw the Disney logo. She described this moment as being so surreal for her.
  • To prepare herself for her role each day, Genesis would  physically warm up.  She would  stretch like she was going to run in a Marathon.
  • Genesis was so excited for a Movie to talk about Robots and Technology. She was into Robotics and considers herself “an official Nerd”.

Jamie Chung: Go-G0

  • This was the first big animated film that Jaime has ever done. She has voiced over small role before but nothing like a Disney animated film.
  • One thing she loves about this film is that there is are no stereotypes. The movie breaks all of those boundaries in terms of being a Nerd, and not being cool, she says.  “Honey Lemon and Go Go are so different from each other and yet they both represent strength in its, in their own way, they both come in different shapes and sizes, and different shades and what not, and that’s what I love about this.”
  • Her favorite scene is when they all have their new gear and they’re testing it out.
  • Jaime’s favorite character in the movie, besides Bay-Max is Wasabi.
  • While recording her voice for Big Hero 6 Jaime says that she uses lot’s of hand movements to help her get into character.
  • Jaime actually came in to read for another big Disney movie and actually ended up getting the role for Go-Go.
  • Her favorite part about Go Go doesn’t say a lot at the beginning of the film but when she does “it’s very on point and it’s quite sassy” Jaime says that Go-Go was described to her as the Female version of Clint Eastwood.

Meeting these two ladies was incredible. They were both so excited to be apart of such a great and inspiring Disney film. Big Hero 6 is now showing in theaters every so be sure to go see it.
