Let’s face it, no body likes to have plumbing problems. It’s a pain in the you know what. Not only is a huge inconvenience to have plumbing problems but chances are you will be paying a hefty out of pocket bill when you have to call a plumber out to your home. Thankfully there are some things that you can do to hopefully, help you avoid your next plumbing disaster. Here are some tips on how to save money on Plumbing.
How to Save Money on Plumbing
Probably one of the biggest issues when it comes to plumbing problems is clogged drains. We’ve had quite a few of those over the years and anytime we have to call a plumber out, it’s at least a hundred bucks.
- Install a screen or drain cover in the bathtub to help prevent hair from clogging up the drain. The last time we had this happen it was disgusting. I had no idea that, that much hair could build up in your drain. But with two females both with long hair in the house, it can happen quick. A simple cover will help you to avoid that hair going down the drain and collecting.
- Never pour grease down the sink. Grease build up is one of the number one causes of drain clogs. Over time it builds up and it’s hard to get clear on your own. You can get an old coffee can or tin can and pour your grease in. If you do happen to accidentally pour grease down your sink be sure to run COLD water to help it wash through.
- Schedule regular check-ups. Now this little tip may cost more than the others but it may also help you save money in the long run. By scheduling a check up your plumber can look for problem areas that need to be fixed that maybe you can’t see.
- Regularly use a Clog remover. I recommend Roto-Rooter Gel Clog Remover which cleans blocked drains fast. Roth-Rooter actually has a complete line of powerful and fast acting drain and septic care products. These products are safe for all types of pipes and septic systems. What I like about Roto-Rooter Gel Clog remover is that is helps to cut through all types of stubborn clogs like soap scum, hair, and even grease.
