One of my most popular blog posts is my recipe on how to make slime. Not only do my readers love learning how to make slime but my kids love it as well. The great thing about homemade slime is you can make any color you want, the options are really endless. While I was at Walmart the other day I noticed some really pretty Elmer’s Glitter glue. This glue came in a variety of colors including pink, blue, purple and even green. I knew my daughter would go nuts over the pink glitter glue so I grabbed a few so we could make glitter slime.

Recipe for Glitter Slime

For this homemade slime recipe you will need a few things.

• • • 1 Bottle of Glitter Glue
    • 1 TBSP water
    • 1 Cup of warm water
    • 1 tsp of Borax 
    • Large Mixing Bowl, measuring cup and measuring spoon.

Slime Without Borax

Liquid StarchMOM TIP: This slime or any other slime can easily be made without Borax. All you need is LIQUID STARCH and glue. It’s easy-peasy. Just mix about 1 tsp of liquid starch into 4 ounces of glue. Mix the liquid starch into the glue until you get the consistency of slime that you want. Then dye the slime any color you like.

I’ll be honest though. Liquid Starch can be really hard to find in stores. You can pick up an inexpensive container of liquid starch here (the same kind I use).

Glue is becoming IMPOSSIBLE to find in stores. Trust me! I found this gallon of Elmer’s white glue for super cheap on Amazon. Right now they are in stock but they sell out quick so make sure to stock up.

How To Make Slime

Making slime can get a little messy so make sure you put something down on your table so it can be easily cleaned up when you’re done.  The first thing you want to do when making your slime is add 1 cup of warm to the measuring cup. Add in the 1 tsp of Borax and stir well.

In the large bowl add the entire bottle of glue together with one tablespoon of water. Don’t worry to much if there is still some glue left over in the bottle. Mix the water and glue together.

Now slowly add the Borax mixture into the glue mixture and stir. You will add about 1 tsp at at time. You won’t need the entire cup of Borax. Only add in enough of the borax slime activator to make your glue start to form into slime. If you add too much borax the slime will become hard.

Now it’s going to get a little messy. With your hands knead the slime until it becomes soft and stretchy. If it’s still too stick add a little more of the borax slime activator.

 How To Store Slime

A lot of people ask me how to store slime. You can store the slime in a plastic bag or plastic container with a lid. It will last for a few days or even weeks but I recommend throwing it out once it starts getting funky. Slime containers are a great way to keep your slime fresh.
