There is nothing that I love more than snuggling up on the couch with my babies and a warm soft blanket. Especially when the cooler weather comes through and all you want to do is stay inside under a warm blanket and watch movies together. That is my version of heaven. With only a few more weeks before the cold front moves in I decided it was time to make my new little guy a blanket of his own. Now full disclosure here: I do not know how to sew. But don’t worry, below I am going to show you how to make a no sew baby blanket that anyone can do.
How to Make a No Sew Baby Blanket
Ok, first you need a few supplies. Those include:
- 2 Yards of Fleece Fabric (These will need to be separated into 1 yard each)
- 1 Ruler
- Pair of Fabric Scissors
All all these no sew baby blanket should cost you less than $10 depending on what type of Fleece fabric you choose to buy. So let’s make a no sew baby blanket shall we!
First things first. Lay the 2 pieces of fleece fabric together and match up the sides. Make sure that they are as even as possible. You may have to cut around the edges a little to match them up.
Next you’ll cut squares out of all four sides. I would say cut about 5×5 each side.
Now is the fun (and most time consuming part). You are going to cut strips around all sides of the blanket. The strips don’t have to match perfectly put you’ll want them to be as close as possible. I made mine measure about the same height as the square I cut out, 5 inches in height. The width of the strips is going to be about 1 1/2 inches. Again this doesn’t have to be exact. You can definitely measure a few with your ruler if you want.
As you are cutting the strips make sure you flip every other strip up. This will help later when you are tying them. Plus it helps keep a straight line.
Time to tie! I start at the corner and tie every other strip. Make sure you tie a double knot, but don’t make that first knot too tight or your blanket will bunch up and look weird. Now go back around and tie the remaining strips.
That’s it, you are done. You made a No sew baby blanket. I told you it was super easy!
