How To Limit Your Child’s Screen Time

Growing up, I can remember my neighborhood being full of kids playing outdoors. There was always something going on. Whether it was children riding their bikes, playing kickball or climbing trees. And that wasn’t that long ago. However, back in those days we didn’t have a lot of electronics. And the Nintendo was just recently introduced, so only a handful of people we knew had one. Now that I have kids of my own, I get sad thinking about how much time that kids spend on electronics and missing out on the best part of childhood. Playing outside just isn’t the same as it used to be. But I want to help change that.

How To Limit Your Child’s Screen Time

When my kids get home from school they will often have a snack, do their homework and then they go straight for the electronics. If I don’t keep on top of them pretty soon an hour or two has passed and they are still sitting in front of the screen. I work from home, so if I get caught up on a conference call or something that get’s me distracted then they would watch and play electronics all day long. So I have been looking for ways to help me limit their time on the electronics. Even when I am away. That’s when I discovered OurPact.

You can give more time on the weekend or less time on the weekdays.  You can also determine just how many hours you want your child to have internet and app access to each day.

And most importantly this is an app that blocks social media. Sites such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter can be blocked as you see fit.

Technology is an amazing thing and I feel like our kids are really blessed to have it. But on the other hand I don’t want my kids to miss out on an amazing childhood because they have their face stuck to the screen.
