These homemade peanut butter protein shakes will keep you satisfied with a whopping 29 grams of protein. No protein powder needed either!
Last October I decided to start my New Years resolution early, and lose that extra baby weight. Since then I have managed to lose 30 pounds and I couldn’t be happier. I have more energy, feel great and most of all I’m proud of myself for sticking with this weight loss journey. I’ve learned over these past few months how to pick and eat the right kinds of food. I want foods that are made with the best ingredients and that are good for me. This doesn’t have to mean depriving myself either. I can still have my favorite foods and satisfy my sweet tooth. But instead of grabbing something like a candy bar, I choose healthier more satisfying choices like homemade peanut butter protein shakes.

Homemade Peanut Butter Protein Shakes

One of the things that I love the most about homemade peanut butter protein shakes is that they are full of protein. That means I get a delicious sweet treat that tastes good and fills me up. You can make these chocolate peanut butter shakes anytime of the day. They are great for breakfast, lunch, or even a filling afternoons snack. And did I mention that these shakes have 29 grams of protein in each serving! And you don’t even need to use those expensive protein powders either. Nope. You probably have everything you need to make this recipe right in your kitchen.

So how do you make protein shakes without protein powder? I’m glad you asked. Here’s the breakdown.

  • 3/4 Cup Hiland Greek Non-fat Yogurt =17 grams protein
  • 1 Cup Hiland Skim Milk = 8 grams protein
  • 1 Tablespoon of Peanut Butter = 4 grams protein

All together that equals 29 GRAMS OF PROTEIN. That’s enough to keep you satisfied and full for hours. And this is a healthy treat you can feel good about eating or should I say drinking.

So to start off making today’s protein packed shake you will need a few ingredients, the main one being Frozen banana chunks. Now this simple ingredient is going to be the base of your drink, but don’t worry if you’re not a fan of bananas because you can’t really taste them. The frozen bananas are there to give your homemade peanut butter protein shakes a thicker creamier consistency like ice cream would.

Put the bananas in your blender or food processor first and blend them up well. Next your going to add 3/4 cup or around 6.5 ounces of vanilla or plain greek yogurt, 1 cup Hiland non-fat Milk, peanut butter, cocoa powder and honey. Blend well until you get the consistency you want. If you want a thicker chocolate peanut butter protein shake then add more frozen banana chunks. If you want a thinner consistency then add less milk. You can also add more cocoa powder if you want an extra chocolatey treat.
