I was first introduced to HEXBUGS last year at Christmas when my son asked Santa Clause for them. Radio Shack just happened to be having a Black Friday Sale and their HEXBUGS were one of the items that were included. When we got to the store apparently every other kid had also asked Santa for HEXBUGS because they were going fast. We ended up getting two of the Original HEXBUGS which Jeremy has played with the entire year.
The HEXBUG Nano is the newest autonomous robotic creature in the HEXBUG Lineup. It comes in 5 different colors and acts just like a real bug. It’s very small about half the size of your little finger. Each Nano has a small battery inside that makes it jump and bounce around on it’s twelve rubbery legs.
HEXBUG recently sent us two of their nano bugs and a small starter habitat set.
The Nano bugs are really neat! They each come in their own container which looks like a test tube. The Starter set comes with a octagon plastic container that you can snap pieces into to build your own battle habitat set.
The piece snap together very easily and the also come off without any problems. This way you can move your habitat around or add more pieces.
The Nano Bugs have a switch on the back to turn them on and off. There is also a little compartment for the batteries. Replacement batteries are pretty inexpensive at $3.99 for 2.
After looking over the bugs and setting up the battle habitat we were ready to test our Nano Bugs out! Aubrey is usually scared of bugs so I wasn’t sure if she would freak out but she loved every minute of it. When the bug would bounce off of the habitat she had no problems picking it back up.
Here is a short video of the Habitat Starter set and One Nano HEXBUG
I have to admit that I really didn’t get the big deal about the HEXBUG Nano bugs until I got to try them out. They are really fun and can entertain kids for hours. With the habitat set kids can create their own NANO world and have battles by themselves or with other kids. These are a blast and will be definitely be adding to Jeremy’s new NANO Habit collection this christmas.
