A few years ago I posted my recipe for Marbled Easter eggs and years later it’s still one of my most popular posts. Not only are these marbled eggs fun and easy to make but they look so cool when they’re done. Once your done making your Halloween marbled eggs, you can eat them whole, slice them and make spooky deviledĀ eggs or come up with your own fun creation. The options are endless. And since this marbled eggs recipe is so easy to make, it’s pretty much fail proof. No one egg will look the same.

How To Make Marbled Eggs

Halloween Marbled Eggs

To make these marbled eggs you’ll need the following.

  • Hard Boiled Eggs (Cooled)
  • Food Coloring (think spooky colors like red, green, black).
  • Vinegar
  • Ziplock bag

Once you’re done making your hard boiled eggs (here is the perfect recipe for easy peel hard boiled eggs) be sure to let them cool for a good 30 minutes or so. I let mine sit in an ice bath because it helps them to peel easier.

Next crack each egg. Go crazy with them! The cracks are what gives your egg theĀ marbled design.

Now place each egg in a separate ziplock bag and add 7-8 drops of food coloring. Use a different color for each egg. Or you could make each egg the same color, it’s up to you. Let the eggs sit for about 30 minutes in the food coloring.

After the 30 minutes is up your going to set the color. You do this by rinsing the eggs in cold water making sure to get all the excess color off the egg. Now pour a small amount of vinegar over each egg and slightly rub it in.

Rinse and dry off your eggs and start to peel them. You’ll immediately start to notice the beautiful marbled design in each eggs which sort of reminds me of a spider web.
