I have many great memories from my childhood, but there is one in particular that stands out amongst the others. The memory I am talking about was the summer my family and I visited Tennessee for the first time and I was introduced to Dollywoood. Dollywood is a magical place that is nestled in the heart of the Smokey Mountains. With 150 acres of fun family adventure it’s no surprise that it’s one of the top themed entertainment destinations in the U.S. This park has got a mixture of Food, Fun, Music, Art, shopping, Thrill Rides and of course Dolly Parton. I was about 6 years old the first time I walked through those gates and I can still remember vivid details about this visit even now, almost 30 years later.
My last visit to Dollywood was last October during a blogging conference. To say I had an amazing time, would be an understatement! Dollywood has changed so much over the years but at the same time it has still managed to stay true to it’s roots. Many of the same attractions I can remember as a kid are still there and it’s nice to be able to relive these memories.

In between riding rides and attractions you can enjoy a wide variety of shows and entertainment. Throughout the year Dollywood offers fun festivals depending on the time of year you visit. In May you will find Barbeque and Bluegrass featuring live music from some of the greatest Bluegrass artists, and of course – BBQ! All summer long, the park will have extended hours and nightly fireworks for their “Great American Summer. A new show offered at the park is Cirque Shanghai, a jaw-dropping stunts and acrobatics show that will be fun for the entire family

Kids grow up so fast and now is the time to create those memories that your kids will carry with them through out their life. I don’t remember the times when my parents worked but I do remember in vivid detail almost all of our family vacations, including my favorite trip to Dollywood.
