In our family we have a Sunday ritual that has been in play since my kids were toddlers. This is the day where we set aside the stresses of daily life and all the distractions that keep us from doing what’s truly important which is spending time together. Each Sunday we decide as a family what we can do together and the one thing that we almost always agree on is going to the movies. Now days films are not only made with kids in mind but also parents which makes it easy for the whole family to enjoy a day at the movies.
Our most recent Sunday family day was last week when we went to see Disney’s Big Hero 6. It was freezing cold outside and when it’s cold there is nothing better than sitting with your family in a warm movie theater eating a big tub of buttery popcorn. Since this was such a popular movie and tickets tend to sell out when movies first release, I though ahead and ordered our tickets online through Fandango. Not only did I get the showtime we wanted but since my tickets were already bought there was not waiting outside in the cold to purchase tickets. If you’ve never used Fandango to purchase tickets, I highly recommend it. It’s so convenient and you can purchase your seats before the movie sells out.
Big Hero 6 was fantastic! It’s been playing in theaters for a couple of weeks not but if you haven’t seen it and you’re looking for a great family movie, I’d recommend it. You can read my full Big Hero 6 Review Here.
With the holidays almost here there are so many more great family movies that are coming out. This is the perfect time to start making those family memories of your own. Here are a few movies that we plan on seeing for our Sunday Family Fun day in the near future.
Annie: Opens December 19th
This beloved musical from 1982 gets a whole new look. The movie centers around rags-to-riches orphan played by Beasts of the Southern Wild’s Quvenzhané Wallis. Jamie Foxx co-stars as Daddy Warbucks.
Penguins of Madagascar: Opened November 26th
The penguins from Madagascar are back and with a movie all their own. When a villainous octopus named Dave hatches a plan to eliminate the penguins, Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private must team with a clandestine animal organization known as North Wind to thwart the diabolical plan. This is one we can’t wait to see! Looks super funny.
Paddington: Opens January 16th, 2015
Children’s favorite (and my favorite bear) Paddington Bear stars in this family film adapted from Michael Bond’s book series.
These are just a few of the many movies that are slated to be released within the next few months. I am super excited and can’t wait to continue making these special memories with my family.
