Oh those pesky clogs. Unfortunately if you have a drain then most likely you have experienced at least one clogged sink, tub or toilet in your life. They aren’t fun and sometimes can be down right expensive so why not try and prevent clogs before they happen. There are several ways you can prevent clogs before they happen and today I am going to share with you some of my tips for preventing clogs.

Tips For Preventing Clogs

1. Invest in a drain cover to catch hair in the tub. This one is a biggie! Last year it cost me well over a hundred bucks to have a plumber come out and snake the backed up hair that had collected in my drain. It took him about 20 seconds to pull it all out (it was a lot) but several hours of work to pay off that easily preventable clog. I couldn’t believe that much hair was in the drain.

2. Periodically use Roto Rooter Gel Clog Removal. It works immediately and clear blocked drains fast. It’s safe for all types of pipes and septic systems. And the best part? It will only set you back a few bucks.

3. Don’t put peels down your disposal. Sadly this is a mistake I had to learn the hard way. I really thought you could put potato peels down the garbage disposal until one Thanksgiving day my sink was unusable because it was clogged full of peels. Now when I peel them I put the peels in the trash.

4. Don’t use the flushable wipes because honestly they will clog your toilet. I haven’t personally had this happen but I have had several friends who have. And after it was clogged they had to have a plumber come out to get all of those “flushable wipes” out of the pipes.
