If you’ve never been to a Cirque du Soleil show before you are missing out. It’s an experience like no other. I say experience, because that is exactly what you are going to get. Dralion combines beautiful music, breath-taking stunts and comedy that will leave even the hardest critic laughing aloud. My family and I got the chance to enjoy Dralion last night at the BOK Center in Tulsa, OK. If you didn’t get the chance to see the show last night your in luck because Dralion will be playing 6 more shows between now and this Sunday, December 16th.
My kids and I were able to see the Cirque du Soleil Alegria when it came through town a couple of years ago and loved it, so I kind of knew what to expect. My husband on the other end was a Cirque newbie and had no idea what he was in for. If you’ve never seen a show before, think circus meets opera. To me that would be a great way to describe it. Before the start of the show 3 awkward looking clowns appear on stage and start to do mischievous things to themselves and a few oh so lucky audience members. These clowns talk but it’s not in a language you can understand, strangely enough you will be able to figure out the joke even through their gibberish. The clowns are hilarious and provide great entertainment throughout the entire show.
Cirque du Soleil is known for it’s amazing music and Dralion did not disappoint. I found myself mesmerized by the male and female singers who were absolutely amazing. Even though I couldn’t understand the words that they were singing I could still feel the intensity and message that they were trying to get across with just their voice.
Fusing the 3000 year-old tradition of Chinese acrobatic arts with the multidisciplinary approach of Cirque du Soleil, Dralion (pronounced “Dra-lee-on”) draws its inspiration from Eastern philosophy and its never-ending quest for harmony between humans and nature. The show’s name is derived from its two emblematic creatures: the dragon, symbolizing the East, and the lion, symbolizing the West. In Dralion, the four elements that govern the natural order take on a human form. Thus embodied, each element is represented by its own evocative colour: air is blue; water is green; fire is red; earth is ochre. In the world of Dralion, cultures blend, Man and Nature
The final verdict of Dralion is GO! It’s amazing and it’s a show you do not want to miss. I am trying to pinpoint my favorite part of the show but it’s extremely hard because I honestly loved it from the start to the finish. If your thinking of taking your kids I would say it’s definitely worth it. Both of my kids ages 4 and 8 loved the show and were completely fixed on the entertainers the entire show. My family and I give Dralion eight very big thumbs up. Cirque du Soliel is currently touring the US and is playing several shows in Tulsa, OK this weekend at the BOK Center. Tickets start at just $37. To purchase Tickets or find out more information on the show visit Cirque Du Soliel Dralion online.
