This Chili Cheese Frito Taco Bake recipe came about after me being on a mission to find the easiest, quickest and most kid friendly recipes around. I’ve been searching through old dusty recipe books, finding inspiration on Pinterest and even putting new twists on some of my favorite meals from when I was a kid. I can remember my mom making a Frito taco bake which was to die for. So I figured this would be the perfect recipe to try out with my kids and see if they liked it as much as a did.
Chili Cheese Frito Casserole
PRO TIP: If you are planning to make this Casserole ahead or to take somewhere, I would HIGHLY recommend a Portable Casserole Carrier. It will not only keep your dish from spilling when your are transporting it but it will also keep your Food warm. This Casserole Carrier is inexpensive and works GREAT.
TIP: Instead of paying $1 or more per packet of Taco Seasoning I now buy it in the big 24 oz containers on Amazon that are much cheaper than buying individual packets. Plus since you have a large container you won’t run out as easily. Buy using this large container I save 50% or more on Taco Seasoning. The instructions are on the back so you know exactly how much you need per pound of meat. THIS IS A HUGE MONEY SAVER!
Ingredients You Need To Make Chili Cheese Frito Taco Bake
Did you know that you can buy many of your grocery supplies on Amazon and have them shipped to your home? I love do my grocery shopping online because that means I don’t have to drag my kids into the store. It’s a win-win!!
- 1 1/2 lbs of lean ground beef
- 1 package of taco seasoning ( I like this one the best!)
- 3/4 Cup Water
- 1 Can Cheddar Cheese Soup
- 1 Cup Milk
- 2 Cups of Shredded Cheddar Cheese
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1/2 Bag of Chili Cheese Fritos
How to Make the Chili Cheese Frito Taco Bake
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. In a 9×9 Baking Pan (HERE IS MY FAVORITE) add a layer of the Chili Cheese Fritos.
Next in a large pan ( I Recommend this one) brown the ground beef with the minced garlic. Add the salt and pepper. Drain the fat when it’s fully browned and cook. Return the pan to the stove top.
Add the taco season and water. Mix well and let simmer for about 3-4 minutes or until the taco season has had time to thicken up. Now pour the meat over the chili cheese fritos.
In a medium sauce pan add the can of cheddar cheese soup and 1 cup of milk. Whisk together and heat until smooth making sure you stir often. After the cheese sauce has thickened up pour this all over the Frito’s and meat making sure you evenly distribute the cheese.
And top this off with the shredded cheddar cheese.
You Have To Check Out This Cheese Grater IT IS AWESOME!
Place in the 350 degree oven for 10 minutes or until the cheese is completely melted.
Serve with tomatoes, avocado, lettuce, sour cream.
