When I was pregnant with my kids I imagined all the “firsts” that I would get to experience with them. I think this is one of the best parts about being a parent. This past weekend I was able to take my daughter to her very first concert, Hunter Hayes, and it was an experience that neither one of us will every forget.
The morning of the concert, Aubrey woke up bright eyed and ready to go! The problem was that it was only 7:30am and the concert wasn’t until 7:00pm that night. I knew it was going to be a long day with one very excited girl so I knew we had better figure out something to kill the time. My kids love to help me make breakfast so we whipped up one of our favorite breakfast meals, Biscuits and Sausage Gravy. There is nothing better than making a big breakfast with your kids.
When it was time to get ready for the concert Aubrey insisted on wearing her pink cowgirl boots and pink cowgirl hat. She loves it when she can wear her cowgirl hat so of course I said yes. We were about 30 minutes early to the concert so after we found our seats we decided to take some pictures. As we are sitting there waiting a notice a women talking to Aubrey and admiring her pink cowgirl hat and cowgirl boots. After a few minutes of chatting, she let us know that she was Hunter Hayes mom!! Of course Aubrey was beyond excited especially when Hunter’s mom told her that she would be looking for her after the show with something special.
The show began with Hunter’s opening act, Ashley Monroe. Ashley was such a talented singer and I had no idea that she was part of the Pistol Annies group until Miranda Lambert walked out on stage to sing a duet with her. Talk about a shocker! The crowd went CRAZY when Miranda walked out on stage, she only stayed for a few minutes but it was such a nice treat to get to see her. After Ashley was done and we were waiting for Hunter to start singing, his mom came back around with four of Hunter’s guitar picks, two for Aubrey and two for my cousin Kylie. The girls were on cloud nine and the show hadn’t even started yet.
When I first got to the show I noticed a sign that had said Tweet your seat to Meet Hunter. So being the tweeter that I am I started tweeting our seat numbers. I never in a million years thought that we would actually win these tickets but when a man walked up to our seats and asked us if we had been tweeting and wanted to meet Hunter after the show I knew this night just became epic.
Hunter’s show was absolutely amazing. He is such a talented singer and musician and I was just blown away. He must have sang for a good three hours but was so engaged with the crowd, the entire time. If he comes to a town near you, and your a fan, GO SEE HIM! It was a fantastic show. After the show Hunter Hayes has a Meet and Greet with some of his fans. Jimmy Dean had provided me with two backstage passes and we had won two by tweeting so I was able to take my aunt and cousin back with Aubrey and I to meet Hunter. He was so SWEET and the girls just got the biggest kick out of giving him a hug, taking a picture with Hunter and having him sign their posters. This was definitely a memory that none of us will ever forget and I have to say that Aubrey’s First concert turned out to be amazing.
We didn’t get home from the concert until about midnight so the next morning we were all pretty tired. Thank goodness for those delicious Jimmy Dean Pankcakes & Sausage on a Stick because we were able to have breakfast on the table in less than five minutes.
Thank you SO much to Jimmy Dean, CMT and Hunter Hayes for such an amazing first concert! My family and I all had a blast together.
What was your first concert?
