My daughter loves her iPad. She takes it pretty much everywhere she goes. She can read books with it, watch movies and even play games. Now that she is in the first grade, she has really taken an interest in doing as much as she can by herself. Of course at 6 years old she still needs a little bit of assistance and guidance and that is why Captain McFinn Swim & Play is the perfect game for her.

Captain McFinn Swim & Play is the first-ever children’s app that allows the users to truly interact and communicate back with a live host. The host plays along with your child and praises them for accomplishments in the game, even calling them out by name at times. The game is geared towards kids ages 3 to 5 but my daughter is 6 and absolutely loves it.
If having a live host worries you, please don’t let it. Your child can see the host but the host can’t see or hear your child. The host follows along and can see what your child is doing in the game, and that’s it. If your child has a question or needs help they can chat with the host through the chat button. This is an easy way for the host to be able to help your child and answer their question. My daughter loves asking the host questions and she got such a thrill out of asking the host to say hi to her dad, which of course she did.
A different host each time
Since this is a live interactive game, your child will have a different host each time they play. Every host we have had for the game has been awesome. They each have their own unique qualities so it makes the game different every time. And the best times to play the game with live hosts is between 7a-7p PST.
Throughout the game, the host will also give your child special missions to complete and even invite them to play games. As your child completes these missions and games the host will praise your child and give them encouragement to keep trying. Your child will do things like play dress up, create drawings and songs and even help clean up the bottom of the ocean.
Aubrey has absolutely LOVED Captain McFinn Swim & Play. She’s played with it everyday since we downloaded it. This is not just an ordinary game, it’s an interactive game that kids will love. My daughter just gets the biggest kick out of being recognized for her creative drawing or her special song.
How much is the Captain McFinn Swim & Play app
The Captain McFinn Swim & Play app is available using a subscription model. The freemium subscription model offers 10 minutes of free play at the start of the game. This is a great way to try out the game and get a feel of how it works. After the free play you can upgrade with the subscription tiers of 1-month, 3-month and 6-month periods. The pricing is $4.59, $3.59 and $2.59.
Right now this app is only available for the iPad. You can purchase this app from the Apple iTunes Store. I don’t really pay for that many apps for my kids, but this is one that we will definitely continue to pay for. It’s a fun game that encourages kindness and creativity. The app complies with all COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act) safety standards, so although parents/children can see the host, the host cannot see them. Through proprietary technology, the host reacts to prompts, responses and creations by the child and texts from the parent (through a secure chat box) to make the interactive experience truly customized.
