Much like humans, as dogs age they can begin to experience the effects that go along with it. In fact, dogs are actually considered senior when they hit 7. My oldest dog Abby is getting up there in age. She will be 12 years old in just a few months. But even at 12, she is still in great health and I want to make sure that she stay’s that way both physically and mentally. According to experts at Purina Pro Plan, around age seven, the glucose metabolism in a dog’s brain begins to change, which can affect memory, learning, awareness or decision making. That’s one of the reasons they have been working hard to find a way to promote alertness and mental sharpness in dogs 7+ through nutrition.
Recently they introduced the BRIGHT MIND Adult 7+ formulas. And with there being approximately 87 million dogs in the U.S. and an estimated 44 percent of them are seven years and older, this new dog food couldn’t have come at a better time.
This past month I decided to try the BRIGHT MIND Adult 7+ formulas out on Abby. They carry a wide variety of Bright Mind food at PetSmart so I knew that this would be the best place to find the right formula for her. We found the dog food in both the dog food aisle of PetSmart and an end cap. Switching Abby to Bright Mind was super easy. Right away she loved the taste which is always a good sign
Per the recommendations of the wonderful staff at PetSmart we have been gradually switching Abby’s food over to Purina Pro Plan Bright Mind. It’s never good to just switch your dogs food all at once, because it could cause them tummy issues. Instead you should gradually add in the new food replacing the old food over at least several days. So far Abby has done great.
As Abby has gotten older, she likes to sleep ALOT! So I am hoping that by switching to Purina Pro Plan Bright Mind she will have more energy, attention span and that she will be more alert to play. I’ll be giving you guys and update on how she is doing within the next week or so, so be sure to back to hear how she’s done. In the meantime I’d love to hear more about you! Do you have an adult dog? Is so, what are some of your favorite activities with your dog?
