When I think of a birthday usually one of the first things that come to my mind is the cake. For the last few years I have made both of my kids birthday cakes because not only does it save me money but it’s fun and I get to make something unique to their personalities. Normally I will try and make a cake and cupcakes but this year for Aubrey’s birthday I found the perfect “cake” that is not only incredibly easy but it is the funnest cake I have made so far.

We were sent the Giant cupcake pan last month and my kids have been begging to make “the world’s biggest” cupcake. Now that Aubrey’s 3rd birthday is almost here I thought this would be the perfect time to get in the kitchen and test this pan out. I have never used this type of pan before so I wasn’t sure how long it would take to cook or how it would turn out but I was very optimistic considering it’s a product made by Wilton.
To make the cupcake I used 1 box of cake mix and 1 can of frosting. The directions say to make the cupcake you will need about 6 cups of mix which is a little more than 1 box but my cake turned out great using just one. I sprayed the insides of the pan with cooking spray and poured my batter and then placed in the oven at 350 degrees.
I used a little more batter in the bottom part of the pan and this seemed to work out perfect! I put a pan over the top and flipped the cupcake pan over and both pieces came out very easily with no pieces leftover in the pan. I cut a little off of the top of the bottom piece and a little off of the top piece and put them on top of each other.
When my kids saw this gigantic cupcake in the kitchen, they couldn’t wait to get their hands on it. Aubrey really wanted to decorate it so I let her pick out special sprinkles for her special cupcake. I will be making another one for her actual birthday party on Sunday but this one I wanted to let her decorate and I think she did a pretty good job and maybe this is the start to her being a professional cake decorator.
There are so many different ways that you can use this cake pan whether it’s for birthdays, celebrations, holidays, etc. you can never go wrong with a giant cupcake. I love all of the different ideas that Wilton has for this pan on their site and I am thinking of trying out the Cupcake Kingdom Castle for Aubrey’s party.
I love the Cake Decorating Kit and can’t wait to start using it more. I tested it out and used a few different tips on the cupcake to get a feel for how it works and it makes me feel like a professional. I have always wanted to be able to make flowers and different designs on my cakes and now I can! The kit comes with 4 different metal tips, 6 disposable bags, 2 tip couplers, 5 liquid color packets and instructions.
Aubrey is very excited about her birthday and being able to share her giant cupcake with all of her friends and family. I love the fact that I will be able to use this pan over and over again and be able to make amazing and fun cakes that are super easy.
