If you’d of asked my a few months ago if I’d ever own a cat, I would have straight up told you there is NO way! Don’t get me wrong, I love animals but I am more of a dog person. However, life sometimes likes to throw unexpected circumstances and that’s exactly what happened a couple of months ago. One day my kids noticed a beautiful stray cat walking around our yard, I noticed that she was hungry and thirsty so we set her up and figured she’d be on her way. A few days later my husband found the cat in the bushes of our front yard, but she wasn’t alone. She had 4 tiny baby kittens with her.
Over the next few weeks we made sure to take car of the mama cat and her babies. We gave her food, water and a place to keep the kittens safe. The mama cat, which we named Meower, had 2 girls and 2 boys. There names are Pearl, Tigger, Coco and Loco.

The moment I spotted Tigger, I knew that I was in trouble. He stood out among the other cats and I grew attached to him very quickly. When it was time to wean the kittens and find them good homes, I found myself sad at the thought of Tigger not being there to greet us everyday. So after talking it over with my husband we decided that we would keep him. That day we officially became cat people!
After we decided to keep Tigger, we had some shopping to do. We have nothing for cats so I figured PetSmart would be the best place to go and stock up on all our new kitten needs. We also took along my moms new kitten Pearl so she could get a few treats too!
For people who have a new kitten or puppy, PetSmart is a great place to go. They can help you figure out what you need for your pet to grow and stay healthy. They have pretty much everything you need including food, treats, collars, bedding, litter boxes, toys and even medication to help get rid of and prevent ticks and fleas.
The employees at PetSmart were so helpful in answering our questions about what are must have products when you own a cat. One valuable tip I would give any new pet owner is to not be afraid to ask. Even if you think it’s a silly question, it’s NOT! Owning a new pet is a big responsibility and being knowledgeable about your pet is key in raising a happy and healthy animal. PetSmart has some great tips for new pet owners (and even seasoned ones).
Tigger and Pearl had a great time walking through PetSmart with us and they loved all the attention. And once we got back home with all our goodies, Tigger wasted no time getting comfortable in his bed with all his new treats he got at PetSmart.
