This past week my husband and I celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary. I knew that we would have to celebrate big for this special day and no ordinary date night would do. So with the help of my friends at Adventure Road , together we created the perfect road trip to celebrate our big day. If you’re not familiar with Adventure Road it’s 130 miles of Oklahoma highway that have fun and unique stops for explorers, travelers, individuals and families, along the way.
Date Night On Adventure Road
Adventure Road has some of the best romantic spots in Oklahoma. There are so many different options to choose from when it it comes to a romantic getaway but here are some of my favorites.
The Artesian Hotel, Casino and Spa
The foundation of a great date night road trip is where you stay. For a romantic yet fun atmosphere, I recommend the Artesian hotel in Sulphur Oklahoma. The Artesian Hotel, Casino and Spa was originally established in 1906 but destroyed in a fire nearly 60 years later. Two years ago The Artesian was completely revitalized with the size and elegance of the original hotel but with all the comfort and amenities for the modern day traveler. The Artesian is beautiful and is one of my favorite hotels for many reasons. First the rooms are spectacular. They are clean, comfortable and super luxurious. I always feel like a million bucks after a night at The Artesian.
Of course you don’t want to spend all your time in your room, especially at The Artesian. This hotel has so much to do from spa treatments, drinks at the hotel bar, shopping on sight, dinner at Springs, or even a round of blackjack in the casino. There is something for everyone. We took advantage of many of the hotels amenities including testing our luck at the casino. We ended up walking out with an extra $50 in our pocket.
The Rusty Nail Winery
I have a secret. I am not a big fan of wine. It always looks appealing but I’ve just never found a flavor that I like. So when I was asked to stop by the Rusty Nail and have a flight of wines I was a little apprehensive that I would enjoy it. I was wrong! This was by far one of the most enjoyable aspects of our date night. With the wine flight you are able to enjoy different varieties of wine that you may have never tried before. We tried dry wines and fruit infused wines and were able to really get a taste for what the differences are in each wine. I highly recommend the fruit infused wine’s which are the best I have ever had. I may have not been a wine drinker before the The Rusty Nail, but I am now.
Tip: Ask for Heaven In a Glass. Trust me, it’s really like Heaven in a glass. And if you want something a little different ask for Peep Toe frozen. It’s SO GOOD!
Springs at The Artesian
If you are looking for good food on Adventure Road it’s not hard to find. But if you want a romantic dinner for two I would head over to the Springs at The Artesian. They have a wide variety of food and drink options to satisfy any taste. After our wonderful wine tasting at the Rusty Nail Winery, my husband and I headed back to the hotel for dinner. Springs at The Artesian is one of my favorite places to eat while I am in the Sulphur area because their food is amazing. One of my favorite dishes is the smothered chicken which I look forward to every time I am in town. But honestly I haven’t had one dish at the Springs that I haven’t just loved. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Chickasaw Welcome Center
After your done satisfying your sweet tooth at Bedre be sure to walk right next door to the Chickasaw Welcome Center. Here you can learn more about the Chickasaw nation and all the wonderful attractions on Adventure Road. You can also help yourself to a free cup of coffee, free brochures and do a little shopping. It’s a wonderful place to visit.
