Let me first say, that I am normally not a truck type of person. Don’t get me wrong, I love trucks. We have a truck. But it’s usually my husband that drives it. So when I teamed up with GMC again and was sent the 2015 GMC Canyon, I was excited but figured that my husband would be doing most of the driving for the week. That was until, I took the Canyon for a ride. After that first drive I have found a new appreciation for trucks and my husband had a hard time convincing me to hand over this full-sized extended cab.
2015 GMC Canyon Review
The first thing that I love about this truck is the style. It’s a big truck but mid-sized enough that I am able to drive it around just fine.
And the running boards were quite large which allowed me easy access to get in and out of the vehicle. This may not be important to some, but when your short like me, you need all the help you can get.
The bed of the truck was surprisingly very spacious. We took the Canyon camping and were able to load all of our camping gear, bikes and ice chests in the back with no problem. And the sprayed in bed liner that you see pictured comes factory installed.
Inside the 2015 Canyon reminded me a sports car. From first glance you wouldn’t think this would be the front seat of a truck but it is. The cloth seats come standard but I really liked the way they felt. And the red stitching along the seats really made them stand out.
And speaking of truck, I was not expecting to see the shifter in between the seats. I LOVE this! Every truck I have ever gotten into had the shifter on the steering wheel, so I was happy to see the placement of this one.
And of course you won’t get a GMC vehicle without XM radio and On Star. These are two of my favorite “bonus” features and ones I highly recommend. We use both the OnStar quite a bit when traveling and it’s saved us a few times from getting lost.
The back of the Canyon is quite spacious for a truck. There is plenty of leg room and comes with 3 seat belts. In the back there is also USB ports and cup holders which are great for traveling.
Canyon Safety Features
Safety is a huge part of what I look for in a vehicle and I was impressed with the Safety Features of the Canyon which include:
- Six Airbags, large rearview mirrors and standard rear-vision back up camera.
- StabiliTrak stability control system with rollover mitigation technology and trailer sway control.
- Driver Alert Package that includes forward collision alert and lane departure warning.
My husband and I really loved the 2015 GMC Canyon. It’s a great mid-sized truck that is perfect for hauling, driving and even traveling with your family. For more information on the Canyon, be sure to visit your nearest GMC dealer.
