Disney. When that special word hits my ears, I just can’t help but to smile. There is something so magical about Disney. And I guess there would have to be, to make people so many people around the world feel happy. So a few months ago when the applications went out to host a Disney Side party I jumped on it. I knew this would be an amazing opportunity to share my love of all things Disney with our friends and family. By throwing this party I hoped to bring that smile that I get to everyone in the room.
How to Host a Disney Side Party
A couple of weeks after applying I got the acceptance letter and then the box full of goodies arrived. To say that my kids and I were excited to rip through that box and look at all the goodies was an understatement. It was like Christmas morning all over again. But the best part was that I knew I would get to share all of these Disney goodies with my guests.
Of course little did I know that the weekend that I had picked to host the party would end up being the snowiest and coldest days of the year. But I wasn’t going to let a little bit of snow ruin our fun. My kids had looked forward to this party for weeks and honestly, so had I. So we decided that snow or shine we would have the party anyway.
Disney Side Party Food
In preparing for the party and trying to decide what type of food to have, I knew we had to have lot’s of sweet treats. Because when I think of Disney and food together, delicious treats are what come to mind. For the party, I whipped up a few of our favorite snacks and desserts. We had cookies, mini yogurt pies, chips and dip, sandwiches and a very cool tie-dye cake.
Duff Goldman Tie‑Dye Cake
Making this Duff tie-dye cake was so much fun. My kids loved being able to help out when it came to preparing food for the party, and this was a great way for them to get to do just that. The cake was really easy to make. You just follow the directions on the box. We were sent this really cute Mickey pan so that’s what we made our cake in.
Disney Side Party Guests
Of course it wouldn’t be a party without guests and since a few of our family and friends couldn’t make it, we just improvised. We certainly aren’t lacking when it comes to Disney characters in our home so we grabbed a few of our favorite Disney friends and they joined in the party. Elsa showed up as well as Baymax, Grumpy, Tinkerbell, and Olaf.
Disney Side Party Game Ideas
One of the highlights of our party was the games! Disney sent us some really fun activities to enjoy like Disney word search and even pin the smile on Mickey. But our favorite game of the night was Disney Bingo. We played this game for well over an hour. If you’ve never played Disney Bingo, it’s really neat. It comes with Disney themed boards and an interactive CD that calls out the number. There are even surprise clips from your favorite Disney movies that will show up from time to time. It’s a really fun game.
All in all I think we had a very successful Disney Side Party. The kids had a blast, my husband and I had a blast and our guests had a blast. It was really great being able to share our passion for all things Disney with others. In fact, we had such a great time that we are now thinking about planning our next trip to Disney. Hopefully in the VERY near future!
