Disney and ABC provided my travel, accommodations and activities during this event. All opinions expressed are my own.
I’ve been a fan of Dancing With the Stars for years but this year has probably been one of my favorites. The music has been great, the dances have been phenomenal but most of all the cast is fantastic. We’re nearing the end of this season but I really feel like the best is yet to come. During my whirlwind trip in LA a few weeks ago myself along with 24 other bloggers had the chance to attend a live-taping of Dancing With the Stars.
This was my first live-taping of any kind of show so I was really excited to see how the whole process worked. Before the show we were able to walk around the stage and watch the dancers warm-up before their sets. It was really an exciting experience and I was just in awe of how they put everything together in such a short amount of time. So you get an idea of what it looks like inside the Dancing With the Stars sound stage I did a quick 360 view of the stage. Check it out.
Before we made our way to our seats we also got the chance to take a few photos. I mean how often do you get to take a photo in front of the Dancing With the Stars judges table?!

It’s actually a lot smaller here than you might think! #abctvevent #dwts A photo posted by mellisa swigart (@melswigart) on
After we got to our seats the show it was time for the dancers to warm up and shoot a few promos for upcoming shows. I was really amazed at how incredibly talented these dancers are. They would practice the same routine over and over again and each time it was nearly perfect. Here’s a short clip of the warm-up.
Wow! These women are so talented. #dwts #abctvevent #bighero6event A video posted by mellisa swigart (@melswigart) on
After the taping we all headed over to a fun bar and restaurant called Mixology to watch the show again. While we were enjoying drinks and appetizers there were a few special guests who joined us. We got the chance to chat with several of the cast and dancers from DWTS including my favorite Lea Thompson. I’ve been a fan of Lea since Howard the Duck. I also got to meet and talk with Sadie Robinson and her Dad Willie. I love this family, they are genuinely sweet people.
Love @leathompson She is such a sweetheart! #abctvevent #dwts A photo posted by mellisa swigart (@melswigart) on

I was already a fan of the show but getting a behind the scenes look at how hard these dancers and stars work make me love it even more. If you ever have the opportunity to attend a live taping of Dancing with the Stars, be sure to take it. It’s an amazing experience. There are only a few more weeks of Dancing with the Stars so be sure to check it out Mondays at 7:00pmCST.
