I don’t know about you but one of my favorite parts about taking a vacation is not having to cook! There is nothing like a home cooked meal done by someone else. Now all I have to do is add a spectacular show to enjoy while I feast and I’m in heaven.
Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede’s moto is “The Most Fun Place to Eat” so while my family and I were in Branson we decided to see what this dinner attraction was all about. Starting October 27th and running through January 1st 2011, The Dixie Stampede will transform into beautiful Christmas spectacular. Featuring a full scale live nativity scene with three kings atop camels, holiday music, Santa, and a delicious four course yuletide feast.
Each night the Dixie Stampede performs three dinner shows which start at 3:30pm,6:00pm and 8:30pm. Before the show you won’t want to miss the pre-holiday comedy show starring David Lucas in the carriage room. This show starts one hour before the main arena dinner show and is included in the price of your ticket. David Lucas is such a talented performer and my family and I were either laughing aloud or watching in amazement at the tricks he preforms during the pre-show.
After the pre-show everyone is escorted into the arena for the main event. You are placed on either the South Side or the North Side. During the show each side has their own performers that are competing during the show to bring either the north or the south a win. It’s a lot of fun and gets every one involved in the action.
As the show starts the feast begins and I do mean FEAST! These waiters are absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Every row has their own waiter and they work incredibly hard to make sure that you have an incredible time. One thing I was impressed about was that my glass was never empty, for the whole show I had a full glass of iced tea. The Christmas Celebration is complete with a four-course meal that includes a whole rotisserie chicken, hickory smoked barbecue pork loin, herb basted potato, creamy vegetable soup, homemade biscuit and a delicious special holiday dessert.
Everything included in the meal is brought out to you one at a time during the show and if your like me and not able to finish the massive feast they have “doggie” bags to take home leftovers. The Dixie Stampede is fantastic and keeps you on the edge of your seat most of the show..if your not laughing at the jokester who likes to make appearances throughout the show. One of the best parts about the Dixie Stampede is the audience participation. Selected individuals are brought down to the area to help their side score a win. This is really fun and sometimes hilarious to watch. My favorite part of the entire show was when my son Jeremy was asked if he wanted to come down to the arena and chase chickens. He was so brave getting out there with 3 other kids in front of 1,000 people. All of the kids got a special medal and book from Dolly Parton for helping out in the show.
The Dixie Stampede was a wonderful experience that my entire family enjoyed very much. We all had our favorite parts and we were all stuffed to max at the end. This is a wonderful show to take your family or just yourself too. You will not be disappointed and it is well worth every penny.
