The Butterfly Palace & Rainforest Adventure is a unique tropical experience for all ages. It’s an interactive, educational, and entertaining family expedition located right in Branson, Missouri.
I was so excited to get to share this experience with my entire family. My parents, and my niece and nephew were also able to join us for a day at the Butterfly Palace. Out of all the activities this is the one the kids wanted to do first.
When you first walk into the palace the lobby is amazing. Since it is the start of the White Flight at the Butterfly Palace everything is festively decorated and it’s beautiful.
There are several activities at the palace so we all decided that they first thing we wanted to see was the live butterfly exhibit that features thousands of butterflies, beautiful flowers and lot’s of other special surprises along the way. Before you enter the live exhibit you will want to check out the movie room that features a short film about the life of a butterfly and other insects.
Inside the live butterfly exhibit you are allowed to just freely walk through and take everything in. Although your not allowed to actually touch or try to catch the butterflies, they are known to land on people and give away butterfly kisses.
One butterfly landed on Jeremy’s hand and he was so excited! He waited patiently in one spot watching this one butterfly and I guess it liked him enough to land on his hand.
There are so many beautiful insects and birds in addition to the butterflies. We walked around the exhibit for a good hour just talking in all the beauty. The kids even got to borrow magnifying glasses and binoculars to get a really close look at the butterflies.
Aubrey found a little bumblebee scooter that she used to ride through the exhibit with.
My family and I were lucky enough to get to experience White Flight which is exclusively available during the holiday season. The white flight features thousands of white butterflies as well as living angel statues. We were a little bummed because during our trip the angel was on break but we did get to see the beautiful butterflies and holiday decorations.
After we were done in the butterfly room, the kids decided they really wanted to check out the interactive rain forest featuring some of the weirdest, creepiest and most fascinating insects and reptiles. The kids were able to learn about the different animals as they went around the room.
One of the best features of the rainforest exhibit was were the kids could virtually dissect a frog. It looked as if they were really seeing inside of the frog. They were also able to use a light microscope to look close at different slides and insects.
The next part of our visit was spent finding our way through the dark and mysterious Emerald Forest Mirror Maze. It was completely dark so it was really hard to see. The kids loved and it and you could hear them laughing the entire time. They ended up going through the maze about 10 different times!
And the highlight of the Butterfly Palace was the climb up the coconut tree. Before the climb everyone is required to sign a waiver. After this you are strapped into a harness and your ready to climb. The climb up is actually the easy part it’s coming down that is pretty scary but such an adrenaline rush! Jeremy, who is 6 was a little scared to climb so he watched me go first. After I climbed up and showed him it was really fun we both raced to the top together.
The Butterfly Palace & Rainforest Adventure was so much fun! We all had a great time and this will be one of those places that the kids will remember forever. My only suggestion for you if you decide to visit is to plan to stay for at least a couple of hours because you will have a blast!
The White Flight will be featured exclusively for the holidays now through January 15th 2011.
