We are currently in the process of teaching our son Jeremy how to ride his bike without training wheels. I have to admit that this has been a lot harder than I ever anticipated. When he is riding his bike he often will go to catch himself and end up getting caught up on the pedals. He just hasn’t mastered keeping balance just yet. Aubrey is much more adventurous than her brother was at 2 1/2. She wants to do everything he does even though she may not realize she is half his size.
Innovative Design is the hallmark for the Glide Bikes product line. From the very first balance bike prototype, Glide Bikes has incorporated the latest technology and geometry to produce bikes of superior quality, constuction and design. A Balance or Glide Bike is a training bike that helps kids learn to balance and steer a bike safely. Kids as early as 24 months can learn to glide a balance bike with practice.
Glide Bikes recently sent us the Red Mini Glider.
I was a little worried about how difficult the Glide Bike would be to put together, when I opened the box I was happy to see that there wouldn’t be much work involved in putting the mini glider together. The picture on the bottom is all of the pieces of the bike.
My husband put the bike together and it took him less than 5 minutes from start to finish. It was super easy to assemble and everything you need to put it together including the instructions is inside the box. Aubrey was so excited that she had her own big girl bike like her brother.
After the bike was put together Aubrey could hardly wait to get on her new bike so we let her ride it around the living room just to get the hang of it before we headed outside.
The Mini Glider is the perfect size for Aubrey! The seats are adjustable, right now we have it on the lowest setting but as she gets taller we will be able to raise the seat so she can ride comfortably for several years.
Once Aubrey got the hang of it inside, we all headed out to our front yard so we could test it out on the road. She had no problems getting on the bike and walking it up and down the street. She isn’t confident enough to put her feet off of the ground onto the steps yet but I’m guessing it won’t be very long.
Here is a short video of Aubrey riding her new big girl bike all by herself.
After Aubrey had a few turns outside we also let Jeremy give the mini Glider a try. I was really impressed that he was able to balance right away unlike the many times we have tried with his regular bike. The Glider Bike has been a HUGE hit at our house this holiday season and I can’t wait to the weather gets warmer and we can all go to the park to ride bikes together.
