When my sister and I were younger we had a Sega Genesis and we both loved to sit and play games for hours. Our parents subscribed to the Sega Channel through our local cable provider and through this we were able to play all sorts of games. At the first of every month at 12:00am the games would change and most of the time we would sit up waiting, hoping that our favorite games would show up for the month. The one game that was my absolute favorite was the Mickey Adventure game! I can still remember how much fun this game was and how advanced it was at the time. So with this said you can imagine my delight and excitement when I heard that Disney was going to be releasing Epic Mickey for the Wii!

Disney Epic Mickey is an action-adventure platforming game for Wii™ console that sends Mickey Mouse on an epic journey of creativity and discovery. As Mickey, the player is propelled into Wasteland, an alternate world made up of Disney’s forgotten creative efforts, and is given the power to wield paint and paint thinner to dynamically change the world while determining Mickey’s path to becoming an epic hero. Through the use of this unique paint and paint thinner, the key components of animation and Mickey’s tools for impacting his world, players will have the ability to shape how the story unfolds as they discover the concept of “Playstyle Matters” – an innovative style of gameplay created by Disney Interactive Studios’ Junction Point, led by industry luminary Warren Spector, where players creatively tackle different challenges in the world to explore all the possibilities and storylines – but with consequences for their chosen actions.

Product Features

  • Use paint and paint thinner to change the world, interact with friends and enemies and solve challenges
  • Choose the best path to become an epic hero because “Playstyle Matters” and choices will change the outcome of the game

  • Collect over 75 virtual Disney pins in the game by completing specific challenges, quests and discovering hidden collectibles

Disney Interactive Studios sent us the new Epic Mickey Collector’s Edition for the Wii. The collector’s edition includes the Epic Mickey Video Game, 5″ Collectible Mickey Figurine, Special edition DVD with behind the scenes footage, Wii remote Faceplate and Wii Console Skins.

I can honestly say that when I opened up this box I felt like a kid on Christmas morning. I was so excited to finally get the chance to play Epic Mickey and see if it was everything I expected. But I’m not the only one who was excited to receive this new game. The minute Jeremy saw the commercial for Epic Mickey this has been on the top of his Christmas wish list..along side the Spy Gear.

Our Thoughts on Epic Mickey:
FANTASTIC!!! This is one of the best games that has been released on the Wii this entire year, in my opinion. My husband and I both had a terrific time playing Epic Mickey and it was nice to see that they brought back some old familiar faces. This game is great because it truly is interactive meaning that they player creates his own journey instead of the game being completely scripted. It is rated E for Everyone which is nice to have a game that is this fun where the whole family can play. Jeremy is only six so this game will be a little bit of a challenge for him trying to figure out the controls and how to work the game. I think with a little bit of practice it won’t take long for him to get the hang of it.

There is also plenty of chances in this game to uncover mysteries and complete tasks which increases the overall length of the game. Although this is only a one player game, it didn’t stop us from enjoying it. The graphics and music are very thrilling which makes the kids happy just watching while we all take turns playing. Epic Mickey is a fantastic game that anyone can enjoy and it’s sure to be a huge hit this Holiday Season.

Buy It: Epic Mickey is now available at major retailers nationwide. It is also available for purchase on Amazon.
