A few weeks ago I was reading a story about a man that was hurt while on the job. He injured himself so badly that he was out of work for months. Within this short amount of time the man and his wife had gone through their entire life savings and were faced with the possibility of being put out on the streets with no money, car or home. After reading the story I wondered why his company had not, at the very least, stepped up to pay for his medical bills since he was hurt on the job.
I’ll admit the story really upset me and got me thinking about what if this had happened to my family. What would we do? Sure I could put my kids into daycare and go back to work but that only solves a portion of the problem. When a person is injured and needs long-term care, medical bills can quickly take a middle class family into poverty in only a matter of months. Fortunately there are laws out there that protect people from situations like this and people out there like a work accident lawyer, that can help you. It’s important to know your options and educate yourself on ways that you can be protected if something were to happen to you while at work. I would hope that most employers would take care of their employees if something happened to them while at work but sadly this just isn’t always the case. People need to know there rights if they are hurt while on the job.

Good to know for future reference. Hope we never need it though!
I’m so glad my husband sits behind a desk now and not out in the field!
I get so worried about this. Thankfully we have a pretty good savings but it’s still a worry of mine.
We always expect to be able bodied. When injuries happen it can really wreak havoc.
I worry about this with my BF because he’s been in some scary situations, but they do have good insurance.
Great information to have!!
