If you’ve been on social media the past few days then chances are you’ve seen people talking about Pokemon Go. I had no clue what this game was up until about 24 hours ago. That’s when several of my friends mentioned how much fun and active their kids have been since downloading the Pokemon Go app. So of course, being the curious being that I am, I decided to find out what all the fuss was about.
What is the Pokemon Go App?
Pokemon Go is a free game that you can download in either iTunes or the Google Play Store. You don’t have to be a fan of Pokemon in order to have fun with this game, but you’ll probably be a fan after you play it. In the game it’s up to you to discover and capture the Pokemon such as Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, Pikachu, and many more which have been discovered on planet Earth.
Whenever a Pokemon is near you, your phone will vibrate to alert you, then it’s up to you to find and capture the Pokemon. When you discover a Pokemon you capture it by taking aim and throwing a Poké Ball. A Poke Ball is a little Red, white and black ball like the one pictured above. You have to stay alert during the game or the Pokemon will get away.
Parents You Will WANT Your Kids Playing Pokemon Go
I know that most days I spend trying to keep my kids off electronics as much as possible. But with Pokemon go I’m actually encouraging them to play more. Parents you will want their kids out searching for Pokemon! Why? Because it gets them up and moving, walking and searching around the neighborhood. It’s a great way to get active while having a whole lot of fun. You see, you have to be walking in order for Pokemon to appear. If you staying still inside your house the your are not going to catch very many Pokemon. The more you walk the farther you get in the game. You can add to your collection by hatching Pokémon Eggs based on the distances you walk.
And Pokemon appear all over the place. You’ll want to visit PokéStops, which will be found at interesting places like museums, art installations, historical markers, and monuments. This will help you to stock up on Poké Balls and helpful items.
How Old Should You Be To Play Pokemon Go
My kids are ages 8 and 12 and have had a blast playing the game so I would defiantly say that this age range is perfect. However, I am 35 years old and I am giving just as much fun playing the game. I would say that this game is appropriate for any age that is able to follow along and play. However, the dangerous part can be kids not paying attention as they walk the neighborhoods. It’s extremely important to stay alert while playing the game so I would recommend younger kids have a parent with them if they play.
Pokemon Go is Addicting
Be prepared to spend a lot of time playing Pokemon Go especially when you first download the app. It becomes very addicting finding these cute little creatures and also having battles
Why I Love Pokemon Go
When I saw how much fun my kids were having OUTSIDE, TOGETHER, I knew that I had to tell other parents. This is a great game that every mom and dad should know about. I Love Pokemon Go for many reasons. First, it’s a whole lot of fun. Clean fun. Second it requires that your kids get outside and walk. The more they walk they better they will score in the game. It’s a great incentive that will encourage kids to be active without them really knowing they are being active. And lastly, this is a really fun and challenging game for the whole family. It’s a game that you can play together or by yourself.
I really encourage you to check out Pokemon Go and see for yourself what the craze is all about. Find out more about Pokemon Go here on iTunes and here on the Google Play Store.
