Ever since I first heard about the Titanic in elementary school I have been fascinated about it. I have watched documentaries about the Titanic and the people that were on the ship and I have read many books and articles about that horrible night. So when my husband and I decided to travel to Branson there was no question that I had to visit the Titanic Museum. This was one of the top attractions that I just had to see.
There is no mistaking this ship while driving down the Main street in Branson. The ship is beautiful and almost eery because it is exactly what I would image the real Titanic ship to look like on the day it sailed out to sea.
When we first arrived to the Titanic Museum at 2:00pm there was already a line forming. I highly recommend purchasing your tickets in advance because there are only so many people allowed through the museum at once and we were told that all of the shows for the day were sold out.
As you arrive the crew is dressed in ship crew attire and you are given a boarding pass with the name of an actual passenger of the Titanic. You are to keep this boarding pass with you and at the end of the tour you will find out whether you survived the sinking of the Titanic.
I wasn’t able to take my camera inside but I did get some great pictures of the outside of the ship/museum. Once you get inside you will go from room to room filled with actual pictures taken from the Titanic and various artifacts from the ship and passengers that you would not be able to see elsewhere! The self-guided tour lasts about 90 minutes and is well worth the admission price in my opinion. You have the option to rent an audio device that is programmed to give your more detailed information about the exhibts and interviews with actual surviors of the Titanic. This is an extra $5 but worth it, both my husband and I had the device and it explained events and artifacts more in detail!
Some of the things that you will be able to do while inside the ship are:
*Walk an elegant replica of the Grand Stair Case of the Titanic
* Touch the Surface of a real iceberg (YES it is COLD!)
*Feel the chill of the fateful starry night
* See the World’s largest Titanic Ship Model on display
* Stand on the Mighty Ships bridge and hear the captains commands
* View life as it was on board. See replica’s of a First Class Stateroom and third class cabin (What a difference)!
* Meet Molly and Carter Titanics newest mascots (So adorable!!)
* Feel how cold the water was the night the Titanic Sunk
This picture above is of a life vest that was taken from the Titanic Museum website. This is just one of the many unique artifacts that you will find while visiting the Titanic. Every picture and artifact is absolutely amazing. I could not get enough and could not wait to get the next room to see what artifacts would be displayed.
Even though I just went through the museum less than a week ago I am already making plans to visit again with my kids this fall and I know my kids, (my 6 year old son especially) will love to see the Titanic Museum! From now until August 15th you can check out Rachel Wilson’s Horse Sculpture event for Free right outside of the Titanic Museum. These sculptures are amazing and even more detailed in person!
