Vacations are all about having fun. But they’re also suppose to be a time when you can re-energize and leave behind the everyday stresses of life. Life can get so busy but it’s so important that everyone take that time for themselves to relax and enjoy the things in life that really matter. I recently got the chance to visit Myrtle Beach for a few days this past week. I was excited about visiting this part of South Carolina, as I have always heard such great things. But the one thing I wasn’t expecting was how relaxed and stress free I felt during the entire trip.
From the moment I walked off the plane, I hit that crisp, warm but not hot, breeze and immediately felt the stress on my shoulders start to disappear. This was a very welcomed feeling and I couldn’t wait to explore this beautiful city.
Things To Do In Myrtle Beach
Myrtle Beach has a great reputation of being a very fun area, and that is 100% true. But the thing that you might not realize is that there are many ways in Myrtle Beach to have fun and relax at the same time. Here are my recommendations.
Play a Round of Mini-Golf
Did you know that Myrtle Beach is the mini-golf capital of the world? With over 50 minature golf courses across the area. These golf courses are themed and you will find a variety of fun and quirky places to test your golfing skills.
Grab a chair, a good book and relax by the ocean.
Around the Myrtle Beach area there are 60 miles of coastline. So no matter where you go, the beach is there waiting. There is nothing more relaxing than to sit next to the ocean. I recommend a glass of wine and a good book. And the fall is the perfect time to visit because it’s not too cold and not too hot, it’s actually the perfect temperature. Plus the water is just beautiful.
Take a Tour, but on a Segway.
Checking out the local area and shopping is all part of the vacation experience. But when you add a Segway into the mix, it takes it to a whole new level. With Myrtle Beach Segway you can experience the feeling of “Gliding” on a Segway, all while taking in Market Common District. Here you can glide around the area on a Segway and then enjoy lunch or shopping at one of the local eateries or shops. I assure you shopping is fun, but it’s so much better on a Segway. And if you have never ridden a Segway before no worries! The awesome folks at Myrtle Beach Segway will teach you everything you need to know for a fun and relaxing ride. I promise after about 10 minutes you’ll be a pro.
See the Myrtle Beach Board walk from Skywheel
The Myrtle Beach SkyWheel is 187 feet tall, has 42 glass-enclosed, temperature controlled gondolas and operates year round. It’s the perfect spot to kick back and enjoy the gorgeous views of the boardwalk. The wheel is a 20 minute ride and a great place to sit back, relax and see the entire board walk from a birds eye view.
Walk the Boardwalk
The boardwalk is a really fun place that is a must when visiting Myrtle Beach. They have lot’s of food options, arcades, quirky shops like the Gay Dolphin and fun attractions around every corner. Once your done with the Wonder Wheel be sure to stop at one of the many ice cream parlors along the boardwalk for a yummy snack.
Brookgreen Gardens
This place is AMAZING! I loved it so much that I dedicated an entire blog post about it. You can check it out here. If there is one tip that I could give you when you decide to visit Brookgreen Gardens it’s to spend a least a full day here. There is so much to see and do that a few hours just won’t cut it.
Ripley’s Believe it Or Not! Aquarium & Museum
Two of the places that I really enjoyed on my recent trip to Myrtle Beach was the Ripley’s Believe it Or Not! Aquarium & Museum. These are two separate attractions but both of them are so much fun. The Aquarium is home to some pretty exotic marine life including sharks, sting-rays, jelly fish and more. There is lot’s of staff on hand to explain to you the different marine life and what they do or don’t do.
The Ripley’s Believe it Or Not Museum is a lot of fun for people of all ages. There are some quirky exhibits and there are also some very interesting exhibits that might make you do a double take. With both of these exhibits I recommend taking your time and going through each attraction at your own pace. Be sure to read all the interesting facts and relax as you learn all about Ripley’s!
WonderWorks
And last but certainly not least is WonderWorks which is an amusement park for the mind. They have over 50,000 square feet full of attractions that combine both education and entertainment. You’ll find more than 100 hands on exhibits in WonderWorks that challenge your mind and spark the imagination. It’s a lot of fun!
Even though summer is coming to an end doesn’t mean you have to let that precious PTO go to waste! It’s not too late, in fact Fall is the perfect time to take a vacation because the weather is great and the crowds are minimal. Put that unused PTO to good use and visit one of the most relaxing places in the country, Myrtle Beach.
