Hollywood is one of those places that is full of familiar landmarks like the Hollywood sign, Hollywood Walk of Fame, and the El Capitan Theatre. The El Capitan was built in 1926 when Hollywood Blvd was still in it’s infancy. There were no fancy shops or celebrity stars just quite homes and agricultural businesses, but real estate developer Charles Toberman envisioned something more and created The El Capitan. Over the years the El Capitan has seen many changes but in 1989 Disney purchased the theatre and restored it to it’s original beauty.
I got a first hand look at The El Capitan during the Iron Man 3 Hollywood Premiere. The theatre is beautiful and as soon as you walk through the doors it’s like your transported back to the day of old Hollywood. There is memorabilia around every corner of movie premieres from the past and present, it’s really neat to get to experience this through pictures and other fun relics from these events. You could easily spend a good chunk of time just looking at all of the pictures many that I had never seen before.
They also had many of the props and costumes from the recent Disney film Oz The Great and Powerful as well as Display of Collectibles & Comic Books from the Private Collection of Stan Lee!
Before our tour of the Theatre we were all treated to a delicious breakfast, Disney style of course, before we learned about this amazing theatre. If your looking to have a party The El Capitan is a great place to consider. They have a couple of different options that all sound like a lot of fun.
From now until June 20th you can see Iron Man 3 playing in Disney Digital 3D and Real D 3D daily at The El Capitan. Also coming this summer to The El Capitan Theatre:
– June 21st – August 8th: MONSTERS UNIVERSITY (Plus, see Mike & Sulley in the MU Pep Rally with the Spirit Squad Live on Stage!)
– August 9th – September 19th: Disney’s PLANES
