St. Patrick’s Day is one of my favorite times of the year, It always has been. I think the reason is partly to do with St. Patrick’s Day is also the same day as my birthday. If I had to pick one day of the year to have my birthday on it would definitely be St. Patty’s Day. It’s just a great day and FUN! There are lot’s of things that I look forward too this time of year but one thing in particular are those yummy Shamrock Shakes from McDonalds. They are so good! This year I thought it would be fun to play around with a few copycat recipes and see if I could come up with one that was similar to this iconic green shake.
Not only did I find a recipe that tastes just like the original Shamrock Shake recipe, but I think this one may be even better. Go ahead and try it out and you be the judge. It’s super easy to make and you probably already have all of the ingredients to make this delicious copycat recipe.
Shamrock Shake Recipe
Ingredients: Makes 2 Medium Shakes
- 2 Cups of Vanilla Ice Cream
- 1/2 to 3/4 Cup of Whole Milk
- 4 drops of MINT oil or Mint extract (Not Peppermint)
- 4-6 Drops of Green Food coloring (more or less depending on the shade of green you would like
- Whipped Cream
- Green Festive Sprinkles
In a blender mix together the ice cream, milk, mint oil and food coloring. Blend for about 30 seconds or until nice and smooth. Poor into a large festive cup and top with whipped cream and sprinkles. Serve Immediately.
