*I received the following free Philips AVENT products to review. All opinions expressed are my own.
When I was pregnant with my first baby I knew that I wanted to breastfed. At the time I was an RN in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit so I was very familiar with mom’s breastfeeding and how important it was for growing babies. However when my son was born a month early I had no idea what was in store for me. My ideas and thoughts of gracefully breastfeeding this little bundle of joy was soon overshadowed by a hungry, cranky baby who refused to breastfeed. My only saving grace was my amazing husband who gave me some relief by taking over a few feedings and giving our baby my breast milk but from a bottle. I think once we both got into a routine he really looked forward to those feeding times and it helped him form a strong bond with him.
Philips AVENT was one of my favorite bottles when my kids were little because unlike other bottles the nipple has the wide shape like the breast. A lot of breastfeeding advocates will tell you if you are going to bottle feed to find a bottle that has the wide breast shaped nipple so that it’s easier for your baby to latch on and go back and forth from breast to bottle. Not only is the Philips AVENT bottles made to have the shape of a breast but the nipples have the unique comfort petals that increase the softness and flexibility without causing the nipple to collapse.
The great thing about Philips AVENT is that they grow with your baby. Each bottle has a stage to prevent your baby from getting to much milk at once and helping to hopefully avoid a colicky baby. Once your baby hits 12 months and is ready to move on to a sippy cup Philips AVENT has got you covered. I love their cups because they have no straws, no spout which means less mess! Now let’s talk binkies. Both of my kids were addicted to their pacifiers but no ordinary paci would do. Aubrey was very particular about her binkies and in fact her favorite one up until we broke her was a Philips AVENT binky with a little monkey on the front. This pacifier saved me more times than one.
Whether your a new mom, a new dad or your buying a gift for a baby shower, Philips AVENT is a great choice when it comes to babies and feeding. To learn more about Philips AVENT you can visit http://www.avent.philips.com/.
