Just this past week my friends over a Nestle sent me a box full of their latest Valentine’s Day goodies to try out with my family. We love seeing what new candy products they have especially during the holidays. There are always fun products like Sweet tarts, Nerds, Bottle Caps and Laffy Taffy. And of course lot’s of chocolate choices as well like Butterfingers and Crunch Hearts.
Last year I made some Valentine’s Day cupcakes using Crunch Hearts and they were a huge hit! So this year since we have lot’s of candy to go around I decided it would be fun to make something else. My kids, favorite type of cookie is Peanut Butter Cookies. So we decided to make some Peanut Butter Blossoms and use Nestle Crunch Hearts and Butterfinger hearts as the chocolate center piece of the cookie. They turned out great especially with the Nestle candy!
Peanut Butter Blossoms
Ingredients
1/2 C. Shortening
1/2 C. Sugar
1 Egg Beaten
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp soda
1 bag of your favorite Chocolate Candy (We used Nestle Crunch Hearts)
1/2 c. Peanut Butter
1/2 C. Brown Sugar
2 T Milk
1 3/4 C Flour
1/2 tsp. salt
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F. Cream together the shortening and peanut butter until smooth. Next gradually add in both sugars. Then beat in eggs, milk and vanilla. Mix well. Blend in the dry ingredients gradually, and make sure everything is mixed together thoroughly.
Shape into balls by rounded teaspoonfuls, roll into sugar and place onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 Degrees F. or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and place the chocolate candy on top of the cookie and press down so that the cookie cracks around it. Return to the oven for another 2-3 minutes. You want the candy to melt slightly so that it sticks to the cookie, but not too much. Remove the cookies carefully and place them onto a cooling rack and let cool completely. (Makes 4 Dozen)
