There is something special about having dogs. No matter how bad of a day you may be having they are there to greet you at the door with an unsurpassable amount of love and affection. There is nothing comparable to having that companionship that a dog will give you. In our home our two dogs aren’t just pets, they are members of the family. Whenever we go somewhere or do something, chances are they are right along with us. We try and pamper our dogs just like we do our kids and for our special pets only the best dog treats will do.
For the fourth of July we will bringing our two four-legged friends, Abby & Willow, with us to celebrate this special day. In fact I have already gotten them groomed and ready to sport there festive new Independence Day bandana’s. I’ve also grabbed a few of their favorite treats to bring along so they don’t feel left out whenever one else is snacking away.
While Abby & Willow were at the groomer getting their new haircuts I decided that I would surprise them both with some new Nudges treats which are available at Walmart stores. You can check out my entire shopping Trip through my Google + Post Here. Nudges, which are made in the USA, are Premium Jerky Cuts made with real chicken and are wholesome dog treats for your pets. They have no artificial flavors or fillers and best of all they smell good and my dogs love them.
Since my dogs are both pretty small I was worried that they may not be able to chew these treats but they tear very easily. When I gave both of my dogs a Nudge they pretty much inhaled them and begged for more. Here is a video below showing my five your old giving our dogs some Nudges.
1. Keep them on a leash. Even if you normally let your dogs roam around, the loud noises or flashing lights may cause them to get scared and run off. If it’s dark outside it may make it hard for you to find them. If they are on a leash you lessen the chance of this happening.
2. Know your dogs limits. If they start to shake and get scared take them inside away from the fireworks until they are over.
3. Never light fireworks close to your animal. They may become curious and try to go towards them which could cause them to get burned or have other serious injuries. Treat your dogs just as you would your kids when it comes to fireworks and safety.
3. Reward their good behavior with Dog Treats such as Nudges.
5. If you know ahead of time that your dogs do not like loud noises find a room with no windows such as the garage, basement etc. and place them in there until they fireworks are over.
Nudges will be having a Twitter Party July 3rd from 1-2Pm EST. During this party they will talk a lot more about Pet safety during the 4th of July and ways you can help your pet feel safe and comfortable. If you want to join in the fun RSVP to the Nudges Twitter Party.
The Nudges are a BIG hit with my two Shih Tzu’s Abby & Willow! We have not only been using them as a special treat but also for rewarding them for not barking, sitting and any other good behavior that we think deserves a yummy treat.
