There is no secret that the OREO is by far American’s favorite cookie. My family grew up on OREO’s and now that I have kids of my own it’s nice to be able to share these little bites of heaven with my kiddo’s. Since the holidays are almost here I thought that it would be nice to invite some of my friends and family over before things get crazy and everyone is super busy. I knew that I would be serving lot’s of holiday goodies but I wanted to make something extra special and that’s why I decided to make a special OREO Cookie Ball recipe.
To get ready for our party my little guy and I headed to our local Walmart to pick up some supplies. This OREO Cookie Ball recipe is SUPER easy to make and you only need three main ingredients: OREO’s, Cream Cheese and Semi-Sweet baking chocolate. Of course if your going to make the Oreo Cookie Ball recipe like I did you will need some extra toppings like nuts, sprinkles and even candy.
After we got our ingredients it was time to make the OREO Cookie Ball recipe. These are so easy to make that even your kids can help out in the kitchen if you would like. The key to making amazing cookie balls is making sure you get the cookies crushed super good. You’ll know because it will look almost like dirt, like the picture below.

Decorating for the holiday party.
While our cookie balls were in the fridge I took this time to decorate the house for the party. I just got some fun holiday decor for my dining room so I thought this would be the perfect time to break it in.
Now I could have just passed out the cookie balls but I wanted to add a little extra special touch to show my family just how much they mean to me. So I made them each individual cookie candy boxes with their favorite kinds of OREO Cookie Balls. My mom got white and chocolate cookie balls and my sister got some topped with candy canes and almonds. I got the boxes from Walmart in the Christmas section and lined the bottom with white tissue paper. The candy wrappers are found in the baking section by the cupcake liners.
Not only did these OREO cookie balls taste great but they were super cute wrapped inside of a tiny candy wrapper and placed neatly inside a Christmas box. This special little gift didn’t cost me much and was easy to make but the smiles from my guests faces as they received their boxes was priceless.
Since I knew there would be a few kids at the OREO Cookie Ball party, I wanted to make sure that they didn’t go home empty handed. So I made each of of them a special bag with lumps of coal. Of course they weren’t really coal but rather tiny oreo cookie balls coated in chocolate.
Lump of Coal Printable
I also added a special printable lump of coal tag that I attached to the plastic baggie. This turned out to be so cute that I handed out a few to the adults as well, including my hubby! If you would like to make these bags of coal just follow the OREO cookie ball recipe directions above but make them smaller. Then place the balls into a baggie and attach one of the printables below. To print, just click on the photo below you like and hit print on your computer screen.
Here’s the finished product.
