We received two complimentary nights at The Old Factory Getaway. All opinions are my own.
For years my husband and I have talked about visiting Murfreesburo, Arkansas to visit the Crater of Diamonds State Park. A few months ago we finally decided it was time to stop talking and make it happen so after doing a little research on places to stay, I came across The Old Factory Getaway which seemed like the perfect place for a fun and relaxing vacation.
The Old Factory Getaway is located only a few miles from the Arkansas Diamond Mine and Lake Greeson. It’s nestled on 2 acres of beautiful property and close enough to all the major restaurants and attractions in Murfreesburo but secluded enough for a peaceful and relaxing vacation. When we first pulled into the property, I was blown away at the beautiful scenery. In fact right when we pulled into the Old Getaway Drive we saw a family of deer which made instant squeals of excitement from my kids.
The cabin has a full wrap around porch with plenty of space to sit and enjoy your surroundings. On the front porch are 4 rocking chairs and the back of the porch sits a large deck overlooking the running river below.
The deck has a porch swing, patio set that sits four, and my favorite a gigantic sized hammock. There is also a grill on the deck perfect for grilling steaks and hamburgers after a long day of fishing or digging for diamonds.
First let me tell you that this isn’t your typical cabin. It’s clean, I mean super clean and so comfortable that the moment you walk in the door, relaxation hits. The cabin has two separate bedrooms and two bathrooms and sleeps a total of 8 people. There are three beds and a pull-out sofa in the front room. Each of the rooms (and living room) has it’s own separate TV with Satelite Cable.
The Cabin comes fully stocked with things like dishes, pots & Pans, silverware and even linens. I was really surprised at how much the owners pay attention to detail when it comes to making your stay comfortable. The towels and bedding were super soft, and there was plenty to go around for everyone during your stay. The cabinets also had essentials such as sugar, coffee, salt & pepper, foil, etc. just in case you forgot something from home.
The beds are very nice and comfortable and I had no trouble falling right to sleep. All of the linens on the bed were clean and soft and the rooms are large enough for everyone to be comfortable and have enough of their own space.
There are two bathrooms in the cabin, each complete with a toilet and shower. The downstairs bathroom has a bathtub/shower. Both of the bathrooms were very clean and fully stocked with essentials such as Toilet paper.
Tips on when to visit:
I would say that anytime is a great time to visit The Old Factory Getaway but there are a few extra special things that happen throughout the year that you may want to consider when booking your vacation. Some say that it’s best to search for diamonds after a heavy-rain so Spring would be the perfect time for that. From October-Feb. is the best time of the year to spot Bald Eagles in Arkansas. The owner has even seen a few fly around the river in the past. There are an abudance of great places to fish in Murfreesburo and they are all very close to the cabin.
The Old Factory Getaway is truly the diamond of Murfreesburo. Whether you are already looking for a place to stay in the area or searching for the perfect place to take your next vacation, I would highly recommend checking out this gem.
